30 | Claudio Echeverri - 2025/26 (on loan at Leverkeusen)

This is a baffling saga...for him to play a part in that FA cup final to now probably leaving on loan is just wild...
It’s not particularly wild if he just goes on a season long loan. He needs to play games and won’t get too many here. Yes he came on in the cup final because he’s obviously creative. Bobb should be fully fit now though and we’ve bought Cherki. Plus with a bit of luck Foden will be much better than last season.

Disappointing to say the least if he goes anywhere. Not to mind with an option to buy.

It's disappointment after disappointment for the past few years. Obviously we've suffered a lot worse but it's just that signing new exciting players only for them to leave because a bunch of our older players are needed to steady the ship but seem more likely to tip it over is so fucking ... disappointing.
Disappointment after disappointment?

So we get 33 million for a player that doesn’t want to play for us? Sounds like a good deal to me.

No we get 33 million euros and after the agent fees, wages, signing on fee etc, the profit won’t look so great and we might lose out on a potential future star.

We seem to be the polar opposite of the rags, they're constantly having youngsters in and around the first team (even if they are all overhyped garbage) where as we just don't give them any real opportunity no matter how genuinely talented they are or could potentially be.

I asked how much we paid for him before I said, “As long as we get our money back for a player that doesn’t want to play for us”.

This lad looks better than any of the other youngsters we’ve purchased with a view to selling, and by a distance. I could just about understand a loan deal (as opposed to actually giving him a few run outs at City), but selling him for a poxy £33m? Not for me

if he was at Barcelona imo he would start games most week or off the bench. maybe not but looking at how they threw in Cubarsi, Yamal, Balde, Gavi, Fort etc...

I bet we would say about Cubarsi if he was here that he is just not ready yet. Yamal would be at Troyes or sold for sell on and buyback lol...

of course much better to loan out a young player to get experience than not playing them at all or only for Carabao games once every two months.

this guy without much games in his legs in last 6 months has some chance to be selected for WC winner Argentina for next WC. that already puts him at a certain level despite young age.

That’s my words. The players are more than ready. Even Madrid started using 18-19 yr olds . We are just awful in selling players so they will stay the next 1-2 years. Chelsea is selling one after the other while we have problems even getting rid of 1.

Everyone seems to be annoyed about this but realistically what do we expect? He is competing against Marmoush, Doku, Savinho, Foden, Cherki, Bobb, and Bernardo for minutes. Apart from the captain of the club each of those players are early to mid 20s. Savinho, Bobb, and Cherki are all under 22.

As exciting as it is to hoover up all these wonder kids if there are too many of them some won’t play enough minutes to develop so are better off leaving on loan or with a buy back option.

People keep saying Madrid and Barca play their youngsters and yes they do but you know what else they are great at letting players leave get experience and sign them back. Their recent histories are littered with players they have done that with.

If he goes and comes back a better player I don’t see the issue.

Maybe I am misunderstanding this but what if Roma sign him for the 33 million because he has just had an incredible season, we then offer 40 million and he says he doesn’t want to come back. Not such a great deal then and we don’t have him under contract.

The buy backs only work if the player wants to come back. We can't force them to. We might have a £40m buy back but the player doesn't want to come back and goes elsewhere.

They're not all they're cracked up to be

This is only a baffling saga and really annoying if you allow yourself to be party to social media aggregators pulling stories from all corners of the globe. I have just been reading how those same Twitter posters are spilling out the disrespect for our experienced players and feeding the hate, and all for engagement on their feeds. As fans of many years, we can be much better than that.

Echeverri is a huge talent and he is under a brand new contract with us. I am convinced that he will shine with Manchester City.

Poor squad planning if you buy a player give them first team lollipops and then sell them because you dint have place for them

Let players leave and sign them back? Yes city has a great history to let players and sign them back

Why doesn’t he want to play for us ? wtf is going on atm as we are starting to look like a club that just buys and sells young players . If he goes on loan for season then comes back that’s ok but anything other is making us look like we can’t hang on to players and any young player will be wise to swerve us .

Hope you’re right mate because if we sell then it doesn’t make us look appealing to any future player .

dont worry weve just renewed 3/4 of the older players contracts so wont be able to shift them in 2 years either forward planning
One things for sure is that we no longer dine at the top table by the looks of it .

There is no hint that we sell, whatsoever, other than some random Twitter post suggesting that Roma want an obligation to buy clause on a loan.
This is the silly season. We are all awaiting the first match and pulling information from social media about who may be on their way. Back in the day, there would, literally, be none of this, other than the odd whisper from Peter Swales, and I don't mean his hair.
