5 | John Stones - 2025/26

You’ve kind of answered your own first point. You actually don’t know if any teams have enquired about him. Unless you work for the club or have inside knowledge none of us do

Are you honestly telling my a team like Everton, West Ham or team higher up wouldn’t be interested in him?

It’s clear he wants to stay and pep thinks he’s good enough - otherwise he wouldn’t be in the squad
As far as I know, neither if us work for the club so I am only going on what I read or hear.
I don't think Everton or West Ham would be interested in him.
If he was at Everton or West Ham, I don't think we would be interested in him at his current fitness status.
Its nothing to do with his ability, its that he hasn't kicked a ball since the Madrid match.
Any club looking for a top centre half would be delighted to have him but only the fit version.
He is obviously happy at the club and everyone wants to see him come good.

John Stones is playing. John Stones is staying. John Stones is City through and through and, as he has said, there’s ’fire in his belly’ ready for the new season.
None of us on here know what the club are thinking/doing but I am sure he wants to be playing for City.
MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.

Take those John Stones tinted glasses off………
And sing even more for Jonny boy.
I, for one (two), will be over the moon if he can stay injury free and do his best on the pitch.
What a player if we could just get to see more of him floating over the pitch, spraying passes about as he did in the treble season. Injury free, he’s our best ball playing defender by a country mile.

I’ll never take them off!! :-) Even when he retires, like Richard Dunne, he will still be my hero. :-)
I understand where most people are coming from but he’s a City player so I will support him through thick and thin.
Even if he wasn’t my favourite of the current team as long as he is playing for us I’ll yell and shout and annoy people on here with my blinkered support. :-)

wouldn't be surprised if pep plays him at right-back or even as a defensive mid if rodri’s unavailable for now
I was watching the super long training vid they showed.

Literally every player was in their natural position, except one, Stones was at RB in the 11v11 training.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him and Nunes rotate there.

He's a terrible RB. Most CB's converted to RB are. He'll be out injured most of the season in my opinion

Well; I can’t see him getting a new contract next summer. Do we keep him this season (a huge risk, given his injury record), and lose him for nothing in 12 months' time? Or move him on before the window closes in a few weeks' time, for whatever we'd get for him?

I do not understand this discussion. He has stated clearly he is not leaving. So why are people still waffling on like its something?

He was genuinely puzzled to be told there is lots of speculation about him leaving. Not really the response of someone told by the club they want him to leave this summer.

I have got no time for it.

Times 2 @Macca77macca. It’s frustrating. He’s a City player. Where’s the backing? :-)

I don't think there are many City fans who WANT him to go There is nothing I'd love more than to see him stay. See my post a little while back, about him and Kompany. He's one of the most technically talented players we've had, relative to his position, in this era. But we need the impossible from him; something no player can give. And that is, assurances about his fitness. Check the amount of games he's missed since the Centurions season....

It's comfortably over 100 games. That's the equivalent of over 3 seasons. A third of his time here. I don't care what player you are, or who you play for. You could be some weird clone of Mbappe, Yamal and Haaland; you're no good to your club sat in the stand. Now (guessing here);as you rightly say, he has expressed a desire to stsy, and I don't recall any firm interest in him from other clubs. So that (along with the "uncles" apparently staying, as of now) suggests that he probably will stay. If he can stay fit, it'll be like getting a new player.

My heart wants Stones to stay as he's a really good player and a likeable guy.

My head says he's too injury prone, 31 years old and unlikely to ever get properly fit so we should put him on a free transfer and thank him for his service.

He is currently fit and doesn't want to move.
He is also home grown.
No chance he moves this season.

I can definitely see a kind of wide Ait Nouri LB inverted Stones RB setup.

Similarly with O Reilly inverted LB and Nunes wide RB.

I suspect with all the wingers, the double wide fullbacks is seen less and less.
