It's Quiet the £250m return

Is it a manc word or entirely made up on social media?

First time I was in Manchester.. I overheard people talking "We was sat..." and I'm thinking.. how can people in England not know how to talk English.. It's "We were sitting" or "We sat down"
Isn’t that just an example of dialectal variation? One can hear it used in northern England, Scotland, even the southern states of the United States of America, as well as other places and groups.

Several outlets reporting that we've included a mid-season break clause in Reis loan contract to Girona, to cover us in the case of injury presumably to Stones, Aké & Akanji, which suggests they're all staying.

This report states an "immediate return", but surely he can't be registered before January?
He'd be able to play in domestic competitions, just not the CL.

Its going to be really frustrating if the line up comes out for Wolves with Stones, Ake, Akanji, Gundogan, Kovacic all on the bench (or even line up) whilst Khusanov, Nico G, and Nico O all sit at home.

I like all of them (the older players) but we need to be freshening up the squad and you know if the above are still around we just delay the younger players another year.
Would you be so frustrated after the game if we've come away with 3 points?

Think you can park your frustration for a while yet where he’s concerned.

players with contract expiring summer 2026:
Ederson, Ortega, Gundogan, Bernardo, Stones, Bettinelli

to make Bernardo captain then let him go next season for free bit odd, but a new contract would seem odd too, not even rumoured that club is working on new contract for him while for others yes (Rodri, Dias, Foden etc)...

keeping both Gundo and Stones while past their prime, would be OK but we are packed in their position. Gundo aint the type that happy to sit on the bench for longer period so if he stays he expects quite some games and if we moving towards higher tempo, quicker game with more running and counters hopefully is he a great fit for that? when Flick was changing Barca last summer one of the first thing he did he thanked Gundogan despite he knew him very well and he was his captain at recent WC with Germany, but wasnt emotional about it for what Barca wanted to play...

Bettinelli may end up like Carson with yearly renewals, doesnt really matter overall as wont feature much.

Ortega likely to be sold next 3 weeks, big surprise if not.

Ederson, dont see this turning into a renewal either. if Trafford good enough to make a go for #1 spot, next summer Ederson goes for free we need a proper #2 behind Trafford, if Trafford not good enough then we need a serious upgrade on an old Ederson next summer.

Elaborate
Don't why I bother, but okay.Hard conversation would mean telling players they aren’t planned to be regular starters, and they won’t get contract renewals and the new players will be preffered. Whether they stay or go after that is entirely down to the individual players. This isn’t difficult stuff to understand, unless you don’t want to.
As for same approach as last season it’s blindingly obvious it isn’t, hence all the new players and coaches, but again you and a few others choose to wilfully ignore that too.

And it is clear that the investment made is designed to eradicate those shortcomings, hence me suggesting that the season is done.

I only use former glories to suggest players are treated respectfully, but we move on.
The investment eradicates some of those short comings but there is a glaring issue in defence unless Pep can turn Nunes into a top class fullback.

I think a lot hinges on whether we can keep John Stones and Rodri fit still despite the investment.

For instance if Rodri misses games, who fills in?
Not Reijnders as he is more an 8. Will Pep play Nico Gonzales? He looked very good to me but Pep clearly thought there was an issue as he didnt play that much after his initial few appearances.
John Stones solves a lot of issues. He can play the 6 role and he can play the fullback role as well (better than Nunes and Rico) He is also our best centre half..

If either or both of those players are missing I think we have an issue specifically on the right hand side of defence.

Wrote on that yesterday, take Reis, Echeverri, Nypan off the list as likely to be loaned.
McAtee likely to be sold.
Kova and Phillips are injured.

on top of them, it will still not be possible for the likes of Ortega, Khusanov, Nico Gonzalez, Bobb, OReilly, Grealish to sit on the bench vs Wolves. maybe they can do but then you have Rico Lewis, Trafford, Cherki missing out etc.

I am very surprised if none of Ake, Akanji, Stones is moved on, and Stones pretty much confirmed as staying.
also surprised if Gundogan and Kovacic both remains with Nico and Reijnders in as new signings and Rodri will hopefully pick of lot of the minutes in the middle which he couldnt do last season.

Think only Grealish will leave that’s that! I feel we still need experience like Kovacic silva Gundo, think Kovacic silva will get get plenty of game time. It be O’Reily Rico Sat in the stands if everyone fit! Can’t see pep telling Ake stones Gundo or Kovacic your in the stands or left at home! Because they have done it for him and experience loyalty and reliability to his system Is alway top pep list!

I think Nunes and Rico can do a fine job, but Stones will be a welcome presence for sure.
In every team, across the globe, key players need to stay fit.
Gonzalez, Gundogan, Nico O'Reilly.
I think you worry too much - we have one of the finest squads in the PL, if not THE finest.

Where do you think ‘wiz’ comes from in the expression ‘we wiz robbed by the referee’?

It’s not ‘poor’ grammar.
As I said, I’ve never heard a Scot say we was/wiz. Definitely heard I/ah wis or ah wisnae but that is the first person never the 2nd or 3rd as in we was or classic Manc “Was you?”.

Would you regard “I ain’t done nuffink” any more than just dialectical variation?
