Reckon they’re the stats he’s bothered about, which are better than Salah, Tront, Saka or practically any other PL player not currently at City!

People shocked to find a footballer would rather sit and do nothing than take a pay cut and play football. United has plenty of examples and no club is immune to it.

Always thought it odd how grown men idolise footballers. Can understand kids, but adults should really be able to see it better.

I still hope Spurs will come in.. Maddisons knee etc, if he wants to stay in the area it's tough though. Maybe the agents, clubs etc already know that and then Everton is his choice..

They are stats though and, as a City supporter, I’d rather he’d won everything he’s won, with his match day stats as they are, than have won much less but seen him outdoing KDB in his stats.
I just think he was integral to us winning stuff, especially the treble season, and writing him off under ‘inadequate stats’ isn’t something I want to do.

I suppose the real question is what did people think we were getting with Grealish?

He never scored 9 goals in a season at Villa in his 5 full seasons and 3 of those seasons were in the championship!

It’s odd that he’s not getting a chance at the same time as it looks like Pep is going to be moving away from total control to more chaos, the very thing that people thought we were going to get form him!

Those are the stats that matter when you retire. They are not the stats that matter ro evaluators who have to pick between 2 or 3 players to try to improve the team.

No evaluator in their right mind is taking Grealish over Salah None.

Theres a few mad stories from that era with Risdale. Danny Mills being another along with Seth Johnson (the Derby player)….

Yea footballers are rich, but it's still all relative , they get used to a certain lifestyle. Plus, for many it's just a job. These lads have done nothing but play football from a young age, some still love it, some just see it as a job at some point and it becomes about making money.

Of course they can take a pay cut and be rich beyond most people's imagination but you're talking about men that have never lived in the real world as an adult, most footballers can barely wipe their own arses.

For most people taking a pay cut when you're used to a certain lifestyle obviously means less disposable income or maybe none at all and for footballers, a pay cut means they might have to think more about their houses or cars or millions they spend on jewellery..but it's still essentially the same mentality when you're accustomed to a certain lifestyle , whether it's being poor or comfortable or rich, it's all kind of relative when you have never really lived any other way ...

I fully understand why they don't take a pay cut within the context of their life. obviously from our point of view, we would happily play football for a fraction of their money but that's not appealing to them when they've earned more

At the end of the day in terms of the large outlay and costly wages the return has been underwhelming. Of course Jack made a contribution to our recent sucesses but the marginal nature of this is evidenced by a distinct lack of enthusiasm to take him off our hands. This always struck me as an unnecessary luxury purchase for which we may now be in the process of paying for.

Scholes scored over a hundred goals in the Premier League, Jack is getting nowhere near that in his career. Very strange comparison.
