Alexander Isak | Cried his way to a £130m move

The same fans partying on the streets after the takeover should be back out protesting if Isak goes and they blow half the money on Jackson.
That's why I don't think Newcastle will sell Isak. It would be hugely damaging to their football club.

I don't blame Liverpool for trying but the media commentators line on it are not worth listening to. They are just an echo chamber for Liverpool (or Man Utd fans).

I hope he’s recognised it, and the appointment of Lijnders may suggest that, but it’s odd we made weak, slow, Bernardo captain and seem to be keeping slow Kovacic and slower Gundogan.

Imagine how much better we’d be with players like Barcola, Livramento and Guehi. Hopefully Reijnders, O’Reilly, Cherki and Ait-Nouri get more games than the slower, less physical players.
You can’t just “throw away” players with good contracts at the end of their careers.

Pep has said numerous times who was and was not out of contract and, until those players decide to leave for better deals, they stay and earn big money. Indeed, as free agents at the end of this season, a few of them will get a last big pay day when they do move and free up big wages…but until then…!

Bernardo was made Captain for a specific reason, or reasons, and his speed was the least of them. In fact, I’d say it wasn’t much of a consideration, wouldn’t you?

I don't see how Newcastle can sell. I can only see 1 forward in Wissa who they might buy, and they need 2
They're gonna have to downgrade massively unless they pull something major out of the bag. United getting sesko in has knackered them. Doesn't look like they can keep him with him firmly wanting out. Big problem for the Geordies with united benefitting big time, unfortunately

There are no decent replacements for Isak left on the market that aren't a downgrade. Newcastle might sell but it would really just smack of a distinct lack of ambition. They have had a torrid time trying to strengthen, but they shouldn't feel compelled to sell Isak and then overpay for a lesser replacement.

for barcodes this window is brutal, and they have CL coming up, this new format will shock them imo. maybe they expect to do what Villa last season who did very well getting to QFs and played a great tie vs PSG losing out by small margin, but for Howe imo it will be a different experience. it will be a dog shit hard fight for them to even finish top 24 to survive the first stage.

Elanga and Ramsdale aint the upgrade they need for a CL season. thats before the downgrade on Isak which directly costs them points and games.

I still can't see Isak not going to Liverpool. Even if Newcastle don't get what they want, they can't honestly keep Isak given the situation, and Liverpool clearing the squad to make room for him. He would be more of a hindrance at this stage and will completely derail Newcastle's season.

At the same time, why should Newcastle sell without a replacement who is suitable enough? Bringing in such an inferior replacement could set the club back 5 years, especially with the likes of Chelsea and United buying top quality.

Newcastle would be far better served by retaining Isak and sending a clear message to the football world that they will not be pressured or undermined by Liverpool or by the player himself. Allowing him to leave and replacing him with an inferior option would risk significantly damaging the club’s reputation, both in terms of ambition and competitiveness.

There ought to be a clear rule in football that if a player refuses to play for the club that employs and pays their wages, that club should have the right to suspend his wages until he ends his strike. Furthermore, the player should be prohibited from representing any other team until the expiration of his existing contract. Such a measure would protect the integrity of contractual agreements and uphold fairness within the sport. Players and agents have far too much leverage in the sport.

I have great sympathy for Eddie Howe. He has handled this situation with absolute professionalism and dignity, showing nothing but class in his dealings with the media. It is just unfortunate that Newcastle United have been dragged into this embarrassment, brought about by Isak’s actions. The club, manager, and supporters deserve much better.

I wonder whether Isak will face the same reception that Jack Grealish did upon his departure from Aston Villa - despite Grealish leaving with nothing but dignity and class. I suspect not.
