New year, new thread.

First significant injury announcement, Pep's just confirmed Rodri won't be fully fit until the first international break, picked up a big injury v Al Hilal.

That's Wolves (A), Spurs (H) and Brighton (A). Sounds like he could play some minutes, just not the full 90.

Not what we needed though.

not good ,but hopefully he ia fully fit then, some early big games without him then

Yep. I knew it as soon as he was essentially told to stand still at the open training session in the week. He made one run into the area because he was bored and Pep quickly came over, gave him a hug and essentially told him to stay put.

Expect more of these, ACL returns always seem to bring other niggles.

The big games at the start of season now aren’t ideal!

Oh well and yet Rodri apart ( who we expect to pick up niggly injuries over the season) we will continue to have players who will end up playing a maximum of something like 10 games a season we can’t afford to keep injury prone players..which will happen once the season gets truly under way ..

It’s such a fine line between a player chomping at the bit to get back on the pitch, versus, risking further injury. Regardless, he will be a big miss that’s for sure.

As I’ve just put in the Rodri thread..

The way I’m reading it is Rodri won’t be 100% and back to his best until after the international break.
Doesn’t mean he won’t play before then.
Maybe I’m reading it wrong?
It was a bad injury and he was out for a long time so it’s understandable that it’ll take time to get back to his best.
He just needs minutes to regain that fitness.
Just sounds like Pep being cautious.

pep is so dramatic. he sounds fine! just don't expect him straight back in the starting 11 for at least another month. not a big deal.

This was very predictable.

Coming back off such a long injury players always pick up other injuries.

Hopefully Pep starts to trust Nico G as he is the best replacement we have in the 6 and I really hope he doesnt revert to gundo and Bernardo in the middle - we know how that works out

Its right not to risk him or rush him back but again it shows that there is a lack of depth in very certain positions - we really should have been working on shifting out some of the players we know from las season can not cut it anymore and bringing in fresh faces..

Just going to get more and more injuries this season. Josko’s minutes need managing due to his minutes last season or he could be on for an ACL as had happened to Maddison and Colwill before the season has even started. Rodri needs to be eased in properly too. There’s one reason behind these injuries - too many games. If they got really bad I wouldn’t be surprised if the players went on strike.

Headlines really aren't giving the full picture of what Pep said. I dont think anyone was expecting him to start at Wolves, could well be on the bench..... certainly sounds like he'lll play some part in the first week of the season.

Dont think it's bad news at all personally.
