Do the players the dippers have signed improve the team over who he replaces.
I think our signings do.
Especially that french lad.

Do the dipper signings improve there team..

I'm not so sure they do

Unlike last season when the unexpected Rodri injury derailed the whole team, this has been known and planned for pre-season. Pep is on this and I have every confidence this will navigated much better. Have faith pal, in Pep we trust!
 
if Pep had gone off sulking at the end of the WCC, I’d have been concerned, but no , he’s at a City Band Doo giving it large !! Having Jolly , plus other stuff I’d say , he’ll have a new slant on it , when all goes wrong , walk away, forget and forgive ,

First choice !!! Haha aye of course he is.

And the add on fee was €5m, which is not much more than the fines we have paid in the last 2 seasons for not getting out of the dressing room on time. If he featured in Pep’s plans he would have played.

He defo won’t be playing right back and wont get a sniff at RCB when the others are fit.

We didn’t need Reis and Khusanov in January - we needed an elite defender to go straight in.
 
Yes. If we can get a consistent run from our best xi I don’t see who’s better.

Frimpong could be hit and miss...same probs as TAA (not great defensively) and not as good creatively as TAA

Wirtz - improves any team so yes

Kerkez - i think he improves them on what Robertson now is and was last year and whoever else played there for them

If they get Isak he is a step up on the likes of Nunez, Jota (rip)

Our signings...

Alt Nouri - huge improvement
Reijnders - should be a step on on what Gundo is now (can he reach Gundo levels when he was at top form - dont know)
Cherki - no one is an improvement on prime KDB, BUT he should be an improvement on KDB of last year and what he is now.
Trafford - no idea- is he a better keeper than Oretga? He is young so I dont think for this season it particularly matters with Trafford

So our signings are largely very positive.

For me its what we have lost and havent replaced in Walker and what he brought to the team - his 1vs 1 defending and ability to cover in behind has been lost and we are as we stand going to be very open to fast paced transitions which more and more teams are adopting. the ther factor is the doubt around the right sided centre half esp - if John Stones stays fit then we are sorted

We won the league with Zinchenko a left back (and delph) - but the rest of our back 4 at those points were much more assured.

The biggest improvement needs to be a return to form of Foden. He surely can’t be as crap as he was last season.
 
I repeat my prediction from a month ago that our start to the season will be inconsistent, some on here will argue that Pep is past it, then we'll gradually improve and win the title after a strong 2nd half of the season.
 
I’m not as confident as I have been in previous seasons, but I think we’ve definitely got a chance. To suggest otherwise is defeatist and irrational. And the usual retort from that quarter is that they are ‘realists’, as if being pessimistic gave you a superior level of prescience. It’s certainly not worked as an effective MO for the last decade if you’re a City fan.

We’ll need better luck with injuries and we’ll be relying on things clicking quickly, but we’ve got Pep, Rodri and Haaland and the fact we were top team in the PL in 2025 seems to have passed some other posters by. How can that record completely rule any team out of being title contenders the following season? It’s a ridiculous statement, especially given the track record of this group.

Think whoever finishes above Liverpool will win it, and I think that could be us, but we might just miss out. Wouldn’t be the end of the world as that would mark progress on last season.

Think it will be a far better title race than last season too.
 
I honestly believe City have the highest ceiling but I doubt we have the consistency, which is why I feel we will finish second.

But if we are consistent this could be a title romp. I think I see the green shoots of something special but the individual errors are still there right now.

I think theyve strengthened for sure , I remember when we were linked with frimpong and wanted wirtz alot on here were eager for us to sign them.
 
I don’t think anyone, players or coaches, covered themselves with glory last season, so there’s considerable room for improvement. Apart from the new players settling in, I’m looking forward to seeing the coaches improve the more established players and bringing more innovation. The focus should be on pushing for the title which we can win, though probably not if we chase on multiple fronts and spread ourselves too thin.
