Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

If he wants to go it means he hasnt got the balls or self belief to stay and fight for his place.

Players like that dont reach the top.

Good player (though really needs to work on his finishing).

Only thing is the fee.....needs to be more than 50m considering scousers just got 53m for the complete flop that is Darwin Nunez - the club need to be better at selling players and getting higher fees.

Overall he is a decent player and could become better but if the stories are true and its him that wants to go then thats the big tellling factor for me....

If he comes out and says he wants to stay and fight for his place....he would go up in my estimation of him. Ive always said i was concerned about whether he had the fight in him...now we will see.

Our wide forwards have divided opinions for years…

Sane, Sterling, Mahrez, Doku, Grealish and Savinho have all at one time or another been considered amazing or shite by our own fanbase. Those that have consistently created and/or scored goals have enjoyed a little more leeway, than those that have struggled in that respect. I think Marmoush will deliver G/A at levels that will garner favour with fans but also from what I have seen so far, IMO he will have his fair share of critics because there are some elements of his game that stand out and not in a good way.

That’s okay, but once teams find a way to block that system, which inevitably happens, then we need something different. Ait-Nouri will also miss a sizeable chunk of the season when he goes to AFCON.
 
Similar situation to Alvarez last season , he was coming off the back of a lot of minutes the season before but ultimately knew he wasn’t first choice

We didn’t need to sell but decided to anyway due to the offer we received

If we get close to £60m including add ons then we will accept that

He’s not as good as Oscar Bobb and we have cover if we have injuries

We won’t be signing a replacement which was a mistake last season with Alvarez but I don’t think it would be in this scenario

I'd say definitely more. Garnacho has been kicked out of the first team and the Rags need/have to sell him. This is not the case with Savinho. Savinho should be 80-85 million.
 
The fact that Savinho apparently wants the move is a bonus. I'd take £50m gladly here - still got Bobb and Doku out wide plus other options, and I'm no fan of Doku either. Went to Brentford Away last season and it was probably Savinho's best game for us - that's clearly got Thomas Frank's attention.

Of those 3 players you could argue they would all be better down the middle

Bobb is probably a winger but he hasnt got winger pace like Savinho

Foden and Cherki are wasted out wide

Funny what 12 months does, Cherki and Savinho are the same age, if you looked at their 23/24 season for Lyon and Girona respectively you'd be saying Cherki was a waste of time and Savinho the elite talent.. now Savinho is surplus and Cherki is the heir apparant

That’s possible, but that further concentrates play in the middle and requires touch and quick movement in smaller spaces, which is not Haaland’s forte.

I suspect we’re going to be taking options off the table to accommodate players who don’t give us that many options.

Savinho doesn't have the fight in him on the pitch, let's be honest he's an absolute fanny.

If he played for anyone else and carried on with those antics in another shirt we'd be calling him all sorts, he needs toughening up and fast.

Unsure about the balls to stay and fight for his part, when Palmer left City I thought it took balls to leave City and look for a new challenge, he wanted more game time and it's paid off for him big time he's playing serious well at Chelsea. Maybe Savinho will flourish at Tottenham if he does join.

If he stays with us he needs to improve his game and also the physical side of the game, if he goes so be it. That's life.

Marmoush as well I guess

I guess that's what the playmakers are for. Holding width in the 'horseshoe' didn't do much last season.

It looks to me like we're going for more goals - having lost a player who was in the conversation for our best ever, we need to spread the responsibility a bit more

He’s had one season with us. And was still the third highest assister in the league. Didn’t play every week and getting used to playing in a Pep team is notoriously difficult. Then again he was a shiny new toy last season but isn’t this season

I agree with this - as you elude to the difference is now we have plenty of great options to play right of an attacking three or as part of a midfield unit.

Cherki, Marmoush, Phil, Oscar & even Bernardo can operate there. Savinho is potentially a great player but for me the one thing he lacks and may never have is that inbuilt composure in front of goal. Saturday again he played well, set up a goal but when the big chance fell to him he snatched at it and it went wide. This has been a constant from what i've seen from him.

Overall this year I'm excited to see more of Rayan Cherki and Oscar Bobb who both seem to have that insane ability to get us off our feet and find the right pass or shot so am comfortable if we sell Savinho.
