Newcastle United thread | 2025/26

Howe apparently doesn’t like a DoF above him so that’s created issues.

Is that true? Their relatively new DoF had to resign because he's fighting cancer and he hadn't had the role for long. Only coming in after the Dan Ashworth to the rags saga. Howe is effectively currently having to act as manager and DoF which goes far in explaining their poor window so if he doesnt like a DoF above him, he'll certainly appreciate it next year.

Yeah and no.
It’s our CEO who has blood cancer and is leaving the role. We have a new one lined up who used to be Real Madrids CEO, and also Maple Leafs Sports entertainment CEO. He’s Canadian and needs a work permit, apparently that is the hold up in us announcing him.

Our DOF is a good friend of our CEO, I think him and Howe have a difference in opinion on how to go forward with transfers, and with our CEO now leaving, he has no allies in the club, so has decided to leave with him as well.
Apparently we are going to appoint the Nottingham Forest DOF, but they won’t release him until the transfer window is closed.

Seems like Bayern are in for Nicholas Jackson so Newcastle might miss out on another target. Still think Sesko is off his tits joining that rabble instead of Newcastle

We aren’t really a selling club though under the new owners. Any player we have sold under them was a player we should have been replacing in anyway. The only exception you have to that is ASM, who we sold to Saudi Arabia, and we replaced with both Gordon, and Barnes.
The fact that Liverpool have had to revert getting Isak to throw his toys out of the pram in an attempt to force us to sell is quite telling.
You aren't a selling club. You aren't a club that is challenging for major trophies. You now are struggling to attract players.
Newcastle are now stuck. If a lower to mid table club brings in players, that help to elevate them, to the next level, they must know there is a goo d chance they won't all stay forever.

Their perceived stance on Isak, whilst most football fans like it, is detrimental to what they want to achieve.
Agents, especially, will think twice about getting their players to move there.
Even the absolute 'elite' clubs accept that players will ask to leave even though they have a contract. The contract these days is more about protecting value.
In the last 20 years I've seen Alonso, Torres, Mascherano, Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho leave. The scum had to let Ronaldo go. Spurs had Modric, Bale, Walker and Kane. Arsenal lost a bucket load to City and Persie to the Scum. Oh and Ox.
There are many others.
The club takes the money, begrudgingly, reinvests. Sometimes you can come to an 'agreement' and let it be known they can leave in following summer window. The business decision though is still ultimately 'we'll take the money and reinvest'.
I wonder how many players and agents have looked at Forest this summer with MGW and THAT interview! Then said "fk that!"
Newcastle's owners are not the local chap who has won a universal lottery. They will be smart studious human beings. They will do what is best for their investment in the long term. I expect him to leave but for how much, when and to who that is? I am genuinely unsure. IF they feel disrespected by Liverpool FC then it is unlikely to be us unless we pay through the nose.

I don’t think we’ll struggle to attract players at all.
It’s like saying that Spurs will struggle to attract players because they held onto Kane.
Fact is so far Isak is valued at about £150m and Liverpool have bid £110m.
Any player will be wise enough to realise why we are holding onto him. There is likely clauses already in Isak’s contract that he can go under certain conditions, it’s just that those conditions haven’t been met.

What an arrogant reply, if it wasn’t for the red cartel, Newcastle would have no problems paying the fees and wages of players they wanted.

As for your club whose fanbase is the ultimate cult , the anger you display to former players like Sterling and Torres is so bad

Let’s also not forget the abuse and threats you gave to Gerrard when he was looking at joining Chelsea

Best of luck this season mate, always enjoy trips up to your place.

Not even the slightest bit of arrogance.

I only posted about the situation the club is in at the moment. One can remove, all the association with the premier league, picture it as a club in a foreign league. All the things I said still stand. How does a club, that aspires to get to the top, deal with players wanting to leave?

IF they have a brought in a few new players, based upon building a team, to get more out of the said player, they will often do their best to get him to stay one more season. An agreement for the following summer might be reached.

IF they haven't been able to improve the squad sufficiently, the player has given them good service, they can't convince him that his future is with them, club will often let the player leave. Both parties will agree on a valuation if there is no pre negotiated clause.

Then there is the situation, where the club states, quite adamantly, not for sale or they attempt to price him out of a move. There is no release clause. The player, pathetically, runs back to his homeland.

The first two scenarios are fabulous PR wise. Prospective future signings will look and think that is a good place to go. I believe, if I give my all there, they aren't going to stand in my way IF a future move comes calling. I might also achieve my dreams there.

The third scenario just isn't good for anyone. It doesn't reflect well on either party and it can distract from what the club is trying to achieve. This downing tools business I certainly don't like, as a football supporter, I am far more in favour of a club demanding silly money! I want my players to stay.

I think Real Madrid might be the only club that haven't had this type of scenario. Maybe City? PSG had Mbappe. Barca had R9, Figo and Neymar.

There is no way we can win every way.
The thing is though a certain club has went out of their way to disrupt him. Instead of coming to us, asking what our price is, they have went to pay for tweets social media personalities and his agent to unsettle him thinking they can get him a knockdown rate.
This is a club who we are building a squad to try and compete with. A club who in the past 50 years have bought pretty much every decent player we have had from us by utilising their wealth, and our shitty owners.
We don’t have those issues anymore. We don’t need the money (even from a PSR perspective) and we don’t have an ownership who are happy to cash in instead of compete.

At the end of the day if a player is in talks with us and says ‘What about the Isak situation, that makes me feel uncomfortable’ all we have to do is turn around and say ‘well actually he went and refused to train before there was an bid for him. When a bid did come along it didn’t match the valuation the club has, nor would it match the value that he had himself. The door was always open for him to work with us’. If someone can’t see the logic in that then maybe they aren’t the type of player we would want at the club in anyway.

I’ll be honest, so far this transfer window has been a bit of a disaster for us. However the club hasn’t lacked ambition, we have went for ambitious targets, it’s just that those players have had the option to go to more successfully established teams, and teams who can offer more in wages.

So far at our club, everything has been quite linear since the takeover. There was always going to be a moment where we would have difficult patch, this summer is proving to be it, which is a shame because this is right after a season that has shown that we can consistently qualify for the Champions League, finish at the top end of the table, and let’s not to forget the first trophy since 1969.

As it happens, aside from Trafford, and upfront, we won’t really be scrolling down the list of targets that we had at the start of the summer. Elanga was likely 2nd on the list after Mbeumo, we still have all our known targets at CB available for transfer, and I assume in CM as well. Upfront yeah we have been shafted on that front, but I guess it just means we’ll have to bring in the players that maybe are not quite on people’s radar and ones that clubs are not ready to take a risk on yet. For the love of god keep that Nicolas Jackson away from us.

I’m torn on this one because as much as I hated your owners siding with the cartel on all things ffp the actual fans have no say in this, after the excitement of the cup win and looking forward to the new season and what might become only for the scousers to ruin it all by going after their prize asset using shithouse tactics.
I’d be fucking fuming if that was us knowing there’s fuckall us as fans can do about it.
That being said without knowing what’s going on in the background I’m surprised that your owners haven’t complained about this so called tapping up its almost as if they are still happy just to have been allowed to buy the club in the first place.
Meanwhile the scum can keep piling up the debt shifting it across to some dodgy side company in the caymans.
On top of that the cult buying ekitike the end result is isak has ruined whatever bond he has with the fans the scousers don’t really need isak.
And the ultimate pisstake being linked with Jackson who nobody wants because he’s fucking shite.
I’m hoping they keep isak but in what capacity who knows but I reckon the scousers will get their own way yet again
Cunts.

I get the meat n bones of your post.

I think the agent is more likely the one releasing information and being involved directly with social media. He would be doing that after getting the thumbs up from Liverpool and Isak. At the very least it'll be a 'thumbs up'. After the VVD episode with Tom Werner anything is possible! The guy was a little apparently drunk and announced to the press that we had agreed a deal with him! We hadn't even spoken to Southampton. Real head in hands moment.

Newcastle, themselves, helped to unsettled him, it appears. Newcastle told him they'd up his wages, but when Amanda Staveley left, he was then told they couldn't do it?
Newcastle also appointed a new sporting director, from Forest, Forest have said he can't join until the window is shut?
It is very much, at the wrong time, a messy situation. If those things are true. With Newcastle, it feels like, it is always off the pitch stuff, that hinders them.

The red cartel have done their job,all this nonsense about Newcastle being snubbed and failed this summer is nonsense. They have only failed due to the fear from the yanks of what they could become.
