Jack Grealish | Set to join Everton on season-long loan

Much easier to sell players when they’re not on £300k a week…

The dipper wasnt playing for free, despite what the cultists will say. If it was a specific one-off instance that would be fair but we struggle to get market value for players not allegedly on 300k a week too.

If wages are an ongoing regular issue when trying to sell players then that suggests we are paying them too much and we need to look at our wage structure. Reduce the flat wage we pay out and incentivise it more

If Grealish does well this season it's likely Everton will keep him a further 12 months. If that transpires to be case they can negotiate a new contract on their terms, but will be probably a take it or leave it maximum of 150k per week. I'm not surprised it's come to this as no club made an offer to buy him.

I just hope City have learned from their 'fools rush in' approach when signing Grealish because we have lost a lot of money in order to get him on loan.

Ive always found a peculiar anti-grealish stance from a lot of blues.
Thought about it often and for a player who was asked to play a certain way by pep and was utterly integral to our treble winning season its always confused me.

I put it partly down to jealousy of a man earning £300k a week and a weird hang up about his fee
on both counts , its not our money, so who cares?

Guy sat next to me used to slag him weekly , asking why he didnt dribble past 4 players and smash it in “like he did at villa”.
He never did that at villa! Think his biggest return was 6 goals in a season?

He was asked to play a very certain way for us. Retain possession, and he was brilliant at it. Drawing in 2/3 defenders, lay it off and assist the assister. And it worked , we won an historic treble

yep he went down hill after that, hes a human being. We’ll never know if any issue was at the centre of it, for all the know nowts on here guessing.

So jack goes with a huge THANKS from me and massive clap when he returns with Everton
I think it far more likely that some fans are questioning the ROI. We paid £100m for him (not his fault) and he has played wide forward, in what has been the best side in the world, managed by the best manager of all time. In this period, he has failed to consistently provide goals and assists and it can definitely be argued that in 4 years, he has had half a good season. The saving grace for him, is that his half a good season arguably came at the most important point in our clubs history. He delivered when it really mattered.

For the outside world, that half a season means frig all and he will be looked upon as a £100m flop. For us, we just have to weigh up whether we got value-for-money, for some we didn’t and not even close, for others, that half a season is worth absolutely everything. Much like his time here, it will divide opinions.

I wonder did he have any better options on the table but opted for everton to stay local, would imagine he wouldn't have to relocate house with young family. Hard to know if that's the best move for him. Time will tell

Tbf we probably are, we have the highest wage bill in the league again.

About his level tbh. I assume all the grealish fan boys will be lumping on Everton now getting top 5? After all grealish wins games by himself.

A crap signing was never city level. Good riddance.
I hate sitting near cunts like you at games, assuming you go to any. Only happy when you’re bringing the general mood down.

Rather than be glad you got your wish, instead you come in here sticking the boot in to a player who won the Treble with this club, which in any reasonable supporter’s mind should make him a legend. It seems to me that you don’t enjoy following this football club as much as you should, if that is your first instinct when someone leaves the club. Someone who hasn’t moaned once.

I wish Jack all the very best, and hope he has a successful time at Everton. Thanks for helping make some unforgettable memories, at least for those of us who appreciate them.

There's not a hope in hell they will pay that, they hold all the cards here
Let's see what type of year he has first. 1 good season and his market value could be much higher.

An option for Everton basically gives them first refusal because let's be honest they'd miss out on a top transfer if it was a level playing field.

BBC sticking the boot in already with a story on Grealish's "demise". Utter twats. What about Rashford's demise? Or Antony? Or Sancho? Or Hojland? Or Mason Mount?

Wankers
Mate don't let them red nobheads spoil your joy.
That establishment is just like the mardarse utd fans we have the misfortune of knowing or work with.

I think because of his manifest lack of pace Jack could play well into his ‘30s without any discernible drop off. I think his ceiling is as a very good PL player, not a great one, sadly, but if he applies himself, and stays relatively injury free then he could still have an effective career at the top over the course of the next half decade.

Something no decent City fan would begrudge.

And he's a big name. Massive commercial deals whilst at City and will continue to help teams generate money off the pitch.

He didnt work out at City but could easily have another great spell somewhere else. Will always be loved by proper fans.

One of those where you start a countdown at kick-off and a wager for how many minutes in until someone shouts "just shut the fuck up and enjoy the game". Furthest out gets in the early doors half time beers queue.

Also he’s won things which I think will help in Everton’s dressing room, especially as I don’t think he’ll give it the Billy Big Bollocks about that, which would be counterproductive.

It’s actually a pivotal moment in his career this season long loan, after which he’ll be in his prime, most likely, given the type of player he is. Hope he grabs the opportunity.

With the England World Cup motivation as well. Everton could be getting a monster...
