Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

We will have to agree to disagree.

You do not pin your hopes - and remove competing players - on a 5 second bit of magic.

Sure it CAN happen but that's an incredibly big punt.

Based on last season, Savinho is not good enough because he has no end product
Bobb is not the finished article, but you feel give him more game time then you will get more goals

I disagree with you.
There is no sale, as yet.
We have a list of young, talented footballers throughout the squad.
I think you listed five or 6 out of a squad of more than twenty.
I will take that, and I don't believe that they will play every game.
Last season was injury and illness ravaged, and it is done...over...gone.
I look forward to the next with absolute relish.
Bernardo Silva has been made captain, given Pep’s track record with him, he’ll start pretty much every game. Akanji likewise.

Those 2 factors alone are very detrimental to how we’ll play as a side in my opinion.

Regardless of the staff, Pep for all his greatness, is still very stubborn. His favourites will get more minutes than they should. At a minimum 2 of those players mentioned should have been sold, certainly about Savinho.

Been saying this for a while. The balance is off. We have a load of young “promising” players and a significant old guard contingent. But not enough inbetween!!
Rodri, Dias, Foden,Marmoush, Haaland, Gonzalez, Reijnders...all in their twenties. Mid 20s or with a hatful of experience.

I think people's emotions are encouraging them to ignore the actual facts about our team and squad.

You are speculating on next season because you have a desire to see younger players in the team. I understand it, but it is clear that the squad is becoming more youthful, and Viana has stated that one of his priorities is to move academy talent into the first team. It is a process. Too slow for some, too quick for others.

No issue with us selling him, my issue is he should be 8th or 9th in the pecking order.

We’re meant to be in the process of a rebuild, yet we’re letting 21/22 year olds leave whilst keeping the old guard around.

Akanji, Bernardo, Gundo, Kovacic and Ortega stand out players that need shifting before him.

Nobody seems interested in buying them though. You can only sell if a club is interested.

I’m speculating on next season, based off what’s happened in the past. Khusanov was playing great and in form. When Akanji was fit, he wasn’t just dropped from the 11, there was times he was dropped from the squad.

Both are still around…

You cannot rebuild with a side of 30+ year olds implies that is what we have. We do not. We have some older players but the majority are young, and extreme talents.

You may wish for all of the older players to be moved on to make space for the younger ones. I suspect we are in the midst of that process, hence the sale of KDB and the loan of Grealish, but to expect it with such instancy is, IMO, unrealistic.
Sorry, but you are inferring that. I’m quite sure that the original poster is aware that we don’t have a side of players aged over 30.

We didn’t sell de Bruyne, did we?. He left because we would not offer him a new contract, ditto Carson. They would still be around if not. In much the same way, if Gundogan, Kovacic, Ake, Akanji, and Stones had been out of contract this summer, I doubt we’d have renewed any of them. The club wanted loyalty and sacrifice from those players and got it, and now the players are understandably wanting their payback. Is it best for the development of the club? Probably not.

I always said the rebuild would take 2-3 seasons, so in that regard I’m realistic. It might even take longer.

I think he will do very well at Spurs. Hopefully we will get 1st dibs on him if/when he decides to move on from them in the future.

Agree Rodrygo cost 80m and 300k a week no thanks his output is not worth that!
Exactly it’s not like he’s doing prime Sterling numbers. That’s what people want. Mahrez was able to breath and get 30 g/a while facing so much competition.

I just don’t see it with this guy anymore. He’s good but he’s not GREAT.

Unless he is happy with 200k a week we ain’t going for him
Marmoush is on 295k
Gundo is on 240k
Bernardo is on 300k
Stones is on 250k

Rodri And Dias on new contracts soon.
We clearly don’t have a problem with giving massive contracts

Utter bollocks lad
I find it hard to say Bobb is better than Savinho, hes barely had any senior football whereas Savinho has shown a fair a amount of class

Savinhos season at Girona alone is above anything weve seen from Bobb

I want to keep both, think both areola talents but of the 2 Savinho is further along his development

Waste of time mate talking sense mate because Bobb is from academy it's final lol

If its 70 million for someone who scored 2 goals in 44 games last season, then its good business imo. He has potential but as he proved last season, he’s miles off being ready to start so many games as he did for us.

We might get a few million for the 3 players you mentioned. Thats why he is going!! Every player has his price, if its £70 million then its good business imo

is it?? We have too many potential players out wide. Savinho/Doku/Bobb. We’re too unbalanced as a squad. We also have Cherki/Bobb/Foden/Silva/Doku along with Savinho who can play on the wing. Too many and someone had to go.

He played 44 games last season and scored 2 goals. He isnt ready “yet” to play so many games for a top club, as he proved. If its £70 million as is being reported, then its completely understandable we are choosing to sell!!
If we sell to not replace then I don't understand it. If we are selling him to fund a deal for Bradley Barcola, Xavi Simons or Rodrygo, then I'm more than happy with that.

Makes no sense to sell him, and we don't need to sell so the club must have someone lined up to come in.
