There is going to be a discussion to reduce the drink drive limit from 0.08 to 0.05 to bring it in line with Scotland. Personally I like popping down to the Local now and again to have 2 pints before tea so not in favour. It may end up the final nail in the coffin particularly for country pubs

I usually get the bus/ tram to go to any of the Wetherspoons in the towns surrounding Manchester,so I can have a few pints of real ale.
However,on the odd occasion that I do drive to a pub in the countryside ( usually while we are on holiday) ,I have developed a taste for Guinness Zero and I can't recommend it enough.
No chance of losing my driving licence when the pint I am drinking has absolutely no alcohol in it.

Got to take into account for naturally occurring alcohols that are produced in the body during normal metabolic processes, but I agree, it should be a low as possible.

A lot of country pubs were hit hard when the drink driving message hit home and I imagine the smoking ban finished many off (not just country pubs). The ones that survived have turned themselves into restaurants and I doubt many would be too bothered if you had soft drinks or zero alcohol rather than beer. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if they make more money on soft drinks.

I think you forgot to add, or if you have, throw a sickie the following day, just in case like.
All they do is scroll Twitter all day and get their policy ideas off the latest pressure groups who want to make the lifes of average man and woman a misery.
Then otherwise they do anything that helps them, their family or friends get richer.
If they looked out the window they might be in danger of actually finding out what people want or don't want.

Lowering speed limits and alcohol limits for driving are proven methods of improving safety. It saves lives and reduces the overall strain on emergency services. In 2021, the cost of a single road fatality in the UK was estimated to be >£2.1M. I'd expect it to be higher than that now. In London alone last year, it was estimated to be around £1.2B for all fatalities and that doesn't take in to account the cost to families of victims.
