The way I see it, he is a a high profile top level keeper that the club rate but wouldn't have gone for earlier, because a) he wasn't available, and b) they didn't need to.He isn't a bit worse though, Trafford is a bit worse, Donnarumma is a lot worse, and the supposed weakness in the air bothers me a bit.I'm happy to see what happens and not sure it will ,do find it quite hard to get my head round though.
For whatever reason and situation at psg, he has become available. And with Ederson's situation, there might be a sudden need going into the end of the window. So the club have no doubt sounded him out, maybe even lined him up, as a replacement should it be needed.
If they actively wanted him as a keeper, they would just agree a fee quickly and let ederson go, even at a lower asking price. We have seen them do this plenty. The fact there is this waiting game, means they are simply comfortable waiting to see what happens, imo.
In the meantime, I think his agent is using that to attract interest from other clubs. The club aren't denying it, because there is truth to it, but it is also imo not as far along as assumed.
If Galatasaray make a decent offer for Ederson, the club will get Donnarumma and that will be that. If they don't, or if they leave it too late and Donnarumma ends up elsewhere, they will simply refuse offers and keep Ederson for the final year, and review again next season. At which point it may be a new top keeper as a no.1, or a new keeper to be a no.2 depeding on what Trafford shows this season.
