I would assume most thought Trafford would be given an opportunity to show he's good enough this season in cup games to be the number 1 next season.

If he isn't then we would sign a proper number 1. All it means is Donnarumma is the guy this season until Trafford competes well enough to take it off him. If he can't compete then he's not good enough to be our main keeper.

If it wasn’t the GK position, I don’t think any of us would expect a 22 year old signed from the championship to be in the first 11. I thoroughly believe we only bought Trafford because Newcastle were interested/the release clause was expiring - if not, I think we would have let him carry on at Burnley.
