Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

Your reasoning is poor. You’re knocking a (then) 17/18 year old for not being better than seasoned vets? He broke through because Pep was looking for something different and he found it in Rico. That’s not luck.

Can agree to disagree on that one but Rico is only 20 years old and looks to be improving year on year.
I’m not knocking him for that, he actually came into the side and did well. I just don’t think he has kicked on at all since then.

The point I am making re him being lucky, is related to what was in front of him at the time. If you were a young RB playing for any side and had Walker and Cancelo in front of you, the likelihood of you breaking through would be miniscule. It would be similar to being Palmer and having the likes of Mahrez and Foden in front of you. Some pretty unlikely happenings went on at that time for Rico to become a regular.

Needs game time sell him with buyback let him get some development time in a first squad somewhere
He’s represented us 94 times across all competitions, with 41 starts in 3 and a bit campaigns, is that measurable game time and has he improved year on year?

Key exposure was last year after losing Rodri, who, like a lot in that defence, brought to the fore the colossal player he is, and the genuine shortcomings of others when he wasn’t there to sweep up…

It shouldn’t be to paper over those cracks but enhance us further, we may need to wait on Rodri 2.0 until Xmas imo, so defensive strength needs to tighten up and sadly Rico is targeted as soon as he enters the field of play…

he won’t ever be a starter for City if we are serious about getting back to winning the league and competing for the CL. He would be a handy player to have in the squad so if we sell it should be to enable a deal to b happen. Ideally for a full back.

Money and a potential starter. Makes sense for him to move. Not the rebuild I hoped for but if that opens the door for an actual good RB, why not.

He’s going to be a superb midfielder when he fills out. He’s only 20 and is so good in tight spaces.

I really hope we have a buy back as a season in midfield at Forest might be the making of him and we’ll have space next season when our older contingent have left.

Oh well who’s next out the door Bobb ?
All the talk was of moving older players on and it’s the complete opposite happening regardless if those players are good enough, the older players should be a priority to move on..

Ive voted yes but only if this long shot scenario worked out.
Min of £40m for Ricco we signed Donnarumma , Ederson moves we agreed to loan Trafford to Newcastle and signed Livramento.
Gives Trafford the opportunity to be a number 1 and prove himself and keeps him happier than being on the bench , Newcastle will benefit from having their number 1 target as a goalkeeper for a year and will find it easier to fill a fullback position than a quality goalkeeper. We get an opportunity to see how Trafford and Donnarunma before next season we still currently have Ortega as back up , and we have the illusive right back spot filled , everyone's happy

They will see our their contracts. I can certainly see akanji and ake staying the next 2 years unless we really go forward with bah, Khusanov and Reis next season and make it clear that they are not getting game time.
Next season is when the rebuild might actually take place with Stones, Gundogan, Bernardo and possibly Kova leaving.

As has been said numerous times, if the ‘older’ players have contracts and they don’t want to move you are stuck.
