Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

Evening all - Forest fan in peace - reading through this thread there seems to be a mixed opinion about Lewis? He certainly fits our profile of transfers and we need a RB as we basically ran Aina into the ground last season (why we had to play a 19yr old CB against you at Wembley). Is he good enough to back up and eventually replace Aina for us? Cheers

Good player in attacking midfield, but not a right back.

Honestly don’t think so. Too small, too weak and too slow to be a RB. His future is in midfield IMO

really? What do you think his value is. I don’t rate him as a player. His positioning as a right back is dreadful and he makes far too many mistakes. He can be decent going forward yes but nowhere near the level we require. I’d be delighted if we got £30 million for him.
He isn't a full back. What made you think he was?

Some players come through at 18 as stars, but most take time to develop.

Not at RB but he is a cracking young player

Met a few Forest fans at the semi final.....good lads. Not sure he is a RB and I think that is the issue. It just isn't clear what his best position is. He can play RB and he can play in midfield. He is nearly very good at both but not quite. He does look stronger now but he may just be a decent, versatile squad player. Pep loves him though.

Oh well who’s next out the door Bobb ?
All the talk was of moving older players on and it’s the complete opposite happening regardless if those players are good enough, the older players should be a priority to move on..
Relative though isn’t it?

Bernardo has paid for himself in spades and sell on went out the window 2 season ago at his prime… Gundo 20m wasn’t it? Akanji 12m? Ake 40m and a necessity squad player…. Stones 50m entering his 9th season and no coffers in the swag bag…

The only other really is Eddie and it’s uncertain how that pans out

We’ve maximised nigh on every purchase, with a couple of anomalies and the balancing act, for me, especially with the last recruitment drive, is partnering the young jedis with the OB1s; we have one clear void, RB, and I’m almost certain if rico moves on, the Newcastle deal gets done!

Will never be a full back mate.

But as a solid all round midfielder he has great promise.

Will never be world class but 100% will be a decent PL player that is more than capable of holding his own against most CL and Europa league level players.

Good player in attacking midfield, but not a right back.
Not a right back as he is too small and not good enough on defending crosses. He has been excellent in midfield on occasions. He is a real grafter who has great spatial awareness and makes the right decisions. Worth a punt in my view. A clever player who will do well in Europe for you.

Rico can play RB in a pinch, but was developed in City’s First Team primarily as an Inverted RB, moving into RDM, with a Back Three behind him.

However, more recently, he has been pushed further up and been of better use. He’s scored a few and been integral in a few others.

With top teams, he will be a utility player, but with lesser teams, he could be an integral player in a fluid system.

He can move, but not pacy. He is strong for his size, but his size is small. He is a workhorse and a battler, with a great engine.

If that sounds like a Forest player to you, I’d assume we could do business in the £40M range (possibly £35M with easy add-ons and a 10-20% sell on).

Tidy footballer who keeps the ball well, quite often with simple passes. My criticim of him at full back was that he was always being wrong side and losing runners. That said we struggled like fuck from October till January last season and he simply can't be blamed for that shit show. Recruitment must take the rap for that (or lack of it in the previous four transfer windows). Wish the lad well.
