Wolves (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

First game of the season and Bobb, Reijnders, Haaland and Cherki all seem to have a great connection on the pitch already. Really fun to watch. Great win and great debuts for our new players! Come on City!!!

Great performance in what could have been a tricky game.

Reijnders was fantastic - Ive not seen a debut as composed as that and from what we have seen already he is probably one of the best finishers in the team...but he can do everything. MOTM in a team who were all 8/10 at least

Cherki is going to cause trouble (in a good way for us) - unpredictable, confidence bordering on arrogance and always thinking about going forward...he had only been on the pitch 5 mins and he was berating RAN for not giving him a pass while he was free in the middle of the pitch

RAN - again could have been a difficult game for him but he is extremely technically gifted and can defend as well

Stones - so good to see him back - he just makes such a difference.

Nico G - did really well (hope he isnt injured - looked as though it was something to do with his elbow)

Haaland - that second goal was just a class finish

We will play much harder games but 3 pts on the board was all that was important....but the performance was excellent.

Just think about adding Rodri (especially) Gvardiol and Foden back into that team

Fine result.

Plenty to be optimistic about and a fair bit to work on, as would be expected after a 2 week preseason. I’d expect energy levels to rise as match fitness improves.

Wolves were aggressive and physical and won plenty of duels; helped by a bit of refereeing leniency?

Scrappy start to second half where City couldn’t keep the ball and it remained that way somewhat, punctured by two more fine goals.

We knew what we were looking for from Cherki and Reijnders and they did not disappoint. Tijji had an outstanding debut. On the debut front RAN was solid and James Trafford demonstrated composure beyond his years.

Oscar Bobb sprinkled some fairy dust about. His partner in crime Rico Lewis had an accomplished game.

Nico G did well. Bernardo did a captain’s job and it was a pleasure to see Stones and Dias back in tandem.

Eased through the game tonight

Lovely stuff

Lots of top performances, but how nice to see Johnny Stones strutting his stuff tonight

First 30 mins I was worried as I have been reminded numerous times already!! Got a lot better from then on. Top stuff. No Rodri no problem (come back soon rodders)
Same mate. Especially when they scored first but was offside. Didn’t get to see 2nd half due to the Telly in my Spanish bar was showing Barca instead. So had to settle for bbcsport.

My take from that - we've got players willing, and able, to take shots from outside the box.
Means we're far less predictable than last year.
Look to force us wide and we'll just pick a moment to spank one in from range!!
The counter attacking for me is the thing...it's so nice to see. I got shut up after that and rightly so and I'm glad!

Cracking result away from home and first game.

Amazing from...

Reijnders
Bernardo
Stones
Trafford
Oscar Bobb
Lewis
Haaland

My only concern was Dias still looks shaky and against better opposition we could get punished because of him.

The counter attacking for the 3rd goal was so beautiful. How did the beeb manage to make it about liverpool and the rags?

Interesting to note how many times Trafford just kicked it long as well...previouslty Pep would have gone mad about this - we are clearly at times going to mix it up

Will be interesting when we move into the season properly to see how we deal with a more intense press
