I absolutely agree. It's not a coincidence that players look better when he plays

He was superb today, but I’m hearing from my sources that his jog off the pitch when substituted will keep him out until 2037.

Excellent performance and mopped up a few of Dias’ errors. Stones and Gvardiol would be perfect partners with how they can carry the ball forward.

There was a thirty second spell in the first half which showed what we missed with him being out for 27 PL games alone last season: he put in a great block to a dangerous shot, got up, the ball was worked back into the box by Wolves and Stones was aware (even though he’d just been on the deck) enough to play their player offside.

Goes without saying that he’s so good on the ball n’all. So calm, never seems to give it away… just top class!

If he’d been fit for more of his time, he’d go down as one of the great centre backs of the game.

Good to see him come off early and Khusanov come on for him. That’s good for both players there. Not running Stones into the ground and good for Khus to show him he’s valued and trusted highly enough that we want him to come on for Stones.

There's not many cb's who are able to bring the ball out of defence like Boulders.

It was all about Rodri being missing last season. We missed John almost as much - he is that influential on those around him.
