Top of the table clash 1st (us) vs 2nd ( joint) Spursy.

But as Sly Sports kept reiterating endlessly 'early days yet'

It is, but I think that was to appease the Red masses. Every pundit and his dog * hello Stanley can't see further than the Dips to retain the title.

I am not saying we win, as Chavs will also have a strong input to the pl outcome.

Spursy ain't a title winning team and for me it's beyond belief they are in the CL * although slightly more preferable than the Rags.....
Crazy things is the Chumps League as it is “chumps” they could do well given the format.

From what I can tell, it looks like they want both. They'd have some pretty decent attacking options if they get them.
Hope so, after yesterday I've come round to the idea of selling Savinho. Bobb looked great and Cherki will be a star.

Spurs will be interesting under Frank. Don't like them but if they can finish ahead of any of Liverpool , rags and Arsenal I won't complain.

Given your user name you may be aware of this but the last time Spurs won the title there was just 2(two) TV channels broadcast in the UK.

So you may have a point regarding them being a title winning team ;)
I was but a toddler when Spursy last won the First Division Championship. Folklore has it they did a double. And every year ending in the digit '1' they win a trophy. Not much evidence of that, apart from 1981 - it had to be and the main reason I despise them so much.

They are in an inflated, elevated position!

I know, which is why I was so hacked with our performances last year. Take out our shytee form in the autumn, but in the old format we would have got through probably as 2nd in group.

I'm expecting another lousy set of 8 fixtures for us this time, with the very tricky away games timed to chime when we have some very difficult away PL fixtures in the 3 days following.

I hope we do meet them again and karma to that 2019 cl quarter final robbery/ aka reffing/VAR corruption that took place to deny us a semi final place.

I watched them yesterday and they were impressive at times, although it was Burnley. It’ll be difficult, but based on our own performance yesterday, think we’ll win.

We need rock solid defensive players against them. Last time we played them at home, they destroyed Rico, he doesn't have the defensive capabilities to handle their attackers. I would be tempted to play Khusanov (like against Madrid) or Akanji at RB. I would also be tempted to play Marmoush and Cherki instead of Bobb and Doku. Otherwise, unchanged team assuming Gvardiol is not fit.
I think Bobb done more than enough to get another start. Doku will not be surprised if his name isn't called out. Lewis also did well and I dont see an obvious improvement but your right they might exploit his defensive frailties. Dias looked slow and ponderous yesterday and might come under pressure in the weeks ahead.

Khusanov in for Dias for me.

I guess the line up depends on whether Rodri or Gvardiol are fit. Unfortunately I’m assuming we’ll still be without Rodders, so this is the team I’d like to see.

………………..Trafford
Nunes….Stones……Gvardiol….Ait-Nouri
……………..Gonzalez
Bobb……Reijnders….Cherki…Marmoush
……………..Haaland

First home game of the season, and we owe these bastards, get all our best attackers in and fucking smash these with pace and power!

Bigger test than Wolves

Thomas Frank is a decent manager.

Could argue change Nunes for Lewis from yesterdays team....maybe Marmoush for Doku.

If Rodri is fit he plays
It'll be interesting to see how he gets on at a big club. It's a huge challenge for him. Look at Potter; he was excellent at Brighton, but he was a car crash at Chelsea. Lampard is another one. Excellent at Derby, but couldn’t hack it at either Chelsea or Everton.

After yesterday and a full week to recover, there’s no chance Bernardo doesn’t play in this game.

Spurs are going to sit and counter. Frank will have them disciplined. Kudus is the danger man. Gvar and AN can lock down the right, which is Spur's outball.

Phase out Doku. The way forward is quick passing that created our goals yesterday. Not giving it to a man who indulges on the wings too long and puts in an end product no one can get to or predict.

--------Trafford
Stones--Dias-- Gvardiol--Ait-Nouri
--Bernardo--Nico G--Reijnders
Bobb-------Haaland----Marmoush

Like Pep said ,didnt control the game very well in the second half and hopefully will play better again. Tottenham is better than Wolves for sure ,but i think we will win.

If we fail to win here, expect an avalanche of posts stating we are not good enough to compete for the title and the old problems persist, Pep can't solve them, and some such shit.

Obvious potential changes vs Spurs are Nunes for Rico and Foden for Doku. I think Pep will continue to use Cherki as a great option from the bench for the next month or so. Once Rodri is back and we control games better, Cherki will get more starts. Without Rodri we are less capable of forcing teams to sit back in their third where Cherki is at his best.

Trafford
lewis
stones
dias/Khush/Josko/ake
ait-nueri

Nico G
Berny/cherki
Reijnders

Bobb
Earl
Marmoush

Gvardiol if for to partner stones

Yeah you are right about Potter.

Not sure the example of Lampard is relevant - he tried to go to high too soon in his managerial career. His decision to manage Chelsea was clearly one led by emotion and not experience or ability and they never end well.

Spurs will be at least be more organised and wont play that suicidal high line they did under their previous manager. who was so stubborn to a point of damaging his own reputation
