10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

He will have bad games. Also he wont start as many as most want. He isn't as structured as Pep would love.

But when he is on it, he'll be unstoppable.
I don't think Pep wants to force him to be structured tbh.

I think he played exactly as Pep would love.

He perfectly slowed down in the right moments, that pausa that alot of our players have lacked since Silva.

But then he accelerates when he sees "the picture" of the attack in front of him and is given the license to create, similar to how Pep gave KdB that license as well.

You can see when he gets the ball, he literally tells our players where to go, he sees how to create the attack by moving the pieces.

He is probably the best talent I have seen in a long time.

Do we think he has a chance of starting against Spurs? I have a feeling he’s the sort of player that Pep will introduce from the bench for cameos for at least the first month.

Reijnders presumably has a spot nailed down, and Pep will favour control and rotation amongst others (eg Phil) meaning Cherki may miss out on a few starts

It’s a shame as I would love to see him unleashed from the start

This all day long. I also think that Pep's comments after the game that we were very poor in the second half until Cherki came on and controlled the pace and added so much potency to our forward play confirm that.

Hopefully Rayan will have plenty of game time because from what I've seen he's the most exciting addition since Merlin, he's potentially that good.

I remember at the time when Nasri was in the team i always thought he was the least important from the forwards Silva, Toure, Aguero, Tevez, but looking at some of the highlights he was very comfortable on the ball. Yaya and Barry or whoever would smash the ball at him and it’d always stick to him. Very technically gifted player
Yeah Nasri was excellent for us in the two title winning seasons he was here.

His potential in terms of goals/assists is more Kevin like. But he is also great in tight spaces, which reminds of David.

Both Kevin and David learned to work hard under Pep. That's the thing Cherki has to add to his game to reach the top.

Actually, there's been a discussion going on about Rod Marsh in another part of the forum, some defending him, others attacking him (I'm in the former camp).
It goes a long way back, but I remember reacting in the same way when I saw Rodney come out of that tunnel opposite me and play. Swagger in bucket loads. Flair. Lack of discipline maybe. Could have been more of a team player at times. But we need these kinds of players. The kind that excite you. Two in a team is one too many. But one — there should be a place for that, even in the most organised team.

Actually, the commentators on the audio of the OS — Alistair Mann and Michael Brown — mentioned Kinkladze.
Imagine what Kinky would have been in an actually good team.

I get what you mean but it's easier to shine in a poor team. Standing out in one of the very best teams in the world is for few players, such as Aguero and Haaland, David and Kevin, and hopefully Cherki.

One could say, imagine Coutinho at Barca. Well, he went to Barca and had to leave, despite being a really good player. One can give examples with City, too, but we have had relatively few signings or talented players who didn't work out.

The 2nd clip!!!....

Was just about to post this but figured it might already be up..
Bit late to the party me..
Incredible finishing skills
I see a KK type 100 plus goal season on the horizon....
I've seen some comments that he is better than Bernarbia.i don't think we can say that yet because Ali even past his prime with was tough. He'd take the digs all day long and didn't like to show the oppentemts he was hurt. I'd like to see what resolve Cherki has when the boots are flying.

Ali benarbia people forget wasnt just a magician he took a lot blows to his shins from ale house players who couldn't get near him.he was never ever kicked off the field ( I remember watching Ali at Stockport away ,their players were jumping in studs up at his shins...Ali just calmly twisted and turned, took the blows, but never gave up on the ball.ill never forget that.

Now in the premier league ill be watching how he fares with the rough stuff, Remember Foden got kicked to bits a season ago,...let's see how he adapts

On a pure skill level he is off the scale, gonna be an exciting season
Another City legend in the making.
And are we the only top club with two genuinely two footed players in our attack ?

Wow.
