82 | Rico Lewis - 2025/26

Most recently, he said Rico will be gone. Obviously Tolmie heard something, but maybe Rico changed his mind, I don't know. Would be interesting to hear another update on this.
Maybe Tolmie doesn’t actually know and really only one or two around Lewis actually know what’s happening.

Fact is pep started him and Lewis has said he wants to stay. That doesn’t point towards him leaving

Like how he is used.

He doens't just invert with the DM (Nico G), he pretty much went everywhere needed to be because fo his ability to play in tight spaces, I even saw him playing between the CBs.

Very useful in the attack, because many opposition sides dont understand how to handle him when he pops up randomly since the LW who would normally mark him isn't going to drop into their defensive line to track him.

Intelligent, hard working, solid technically and although not anything crazy athletic wise, still enough for this level. Never understood the hate.

Pep making another point of Rico’s height again, maybe he needs to grow his hair back…

He's got the right mentality. Good attitude to have. Did say if we got decent money for him I'd probably let him go, but there's no need to let him go. If he's happy to fight for his minutes and be a squad player, then try and force his way into the team, that's a good problem to have this season.

Was our best player yesterday I thought (until he went off).

Not interested in your other criticisms which aren’t accurate, but can’t read the game, thats just bonkers his football intelligence is one of his biggest assets.
I'm open to debate on this topic.

Site examples where Lewis is able to read the game with youtube or other video evidence please.

My post above about Lewis' inability to read the game was aimed entirely on his total lack of ability to read the game on defense. I should have clarified this in my post.

Still - going forward on offense - I can't think of any situation in which Rico reads the game to an exceptional extent - which - if you think that football intelligence is one of his biggest assets you'll be able to supply.

Again - site examples - I'm open to changing my mind.

Id like him to stay but if he's being promised regular game time in their midfield in a world cup year that could be enticing.
In our squad, Lewis is a backup right back to a stop gap right back. Lewis has zero chance of playing in midfield at City - where I think he plays best.

Were I Lewis - I'd 100% want to move to another club.

I think Liveremento is fantasy at this stage

If I was Lewis, I’d stay.
Agree with the Livermento assessment - that's never happening this window.

Disagree with Lewis staying. Lewis is now backup right back to a makeshift right back and has little to no chance of starting in midfield where I think he plays best. If I were Lewis, I'd 100% try to move to a side where I could play more often and in the midfield.

Back up? Why did he start the first game of the season if he’s ’back up’ right back?

I've just had a look at the stats from Rico's last 10 games/apps in a City shirt (including the CWC and friendlies).

United (A), 0-0
Palace (H), 5-2
Forest (N), goal in a 2-0 win
Wolves (H), 1-0
Southampton (A), 0-0
Wydad (N), 2-0
Preston (N), goal in a 1-0 win
Palermo (N), assist in a 3-0 win
Wolves (A), assist in a 4-0 win

2 goals, 2 assists. 80% winrate for City overall, NINE clean sheets.

He's definitely becoming a part of this team.

Didn't realise I'd defended Rico quite so much last season. Glad he's staying.

I don't think Pep was meaning it in a hugely derogatory way and I'm concentrating on him saying that Rico is an extraordinary player.

If Pep Guardiola thinks he is extraordinary then that will do for me.

Cunts posting negative stuff about players who are young and trying their best can fuck off back to Old Trafford or Anfield.

I think Rico is a good young player but it's worth pointing out that two of these were friendlies, one (Wydad) was basically a friendly and another four were against three of the league's worst teams.

So you really think that Rico is first choice RB?
He was on Saturday, so I’m guessing you think he’s ’back up’ because you don’t rate him & you'd have him as back up

Will he play more than Nunes? Who knows, so calling him a ‘back up’ player is disingenuous

Fair enough; but the reason I call him a back up is because I think that Nunes is first choice - a point on which I may well be wrong. If Lewis is in our side for the next few fixtures, we'll find out who is first choice.
