Arsenal thread | 2025/26

Given his build and Arsenal's reliance on corners and set-pieces, I think Gyokeres will play the "Maguire role", coming on when a goal is desperately needed in the last 5 minutes to get on the end of hooves into the opposition box.

Everyone is talking about Liverpool's transfer window but Arsenal have had a very good one too

Those are my thoughts exactly.

Is Lego head the right coach to bring the best out of attacking/flair players?

All the evidence so far is that he isn’t.

It's a fair question, we haven't actually bought many flair players and our attacking players are the clear weakness in the squad. Martinelli dribbles with his head down, Trossard has great skill but must be the PLs slowest winger, Havertz has no balance and 2 left feet, Sterling was done, Odegaard has dropped off allot in the last 18 months. So everything goes through our best forward, which is Saka. So the question is if the coaching isn't good enough or the talent isn't there. Teta encourages playing the ball to feet and rigid paterns, where sometimes you want to see through balls for players to run onto. Arteta has got us playing much quicker in transition but we're not very good at it yet

The player Teta got the best out of was Jesus when he first arrived. As a false 9 he was sensational and stretched opponents. Since his injuries he has never been the same player and most of the time he has been out injured. He nearly signed for Palmeires this summer

For what it's worth our most skillful player in pre-season looks like 15yo Max Dowman

This shit I wanted to post

Somehow its screwed itself

Yeah Arteta has to do it. And a Carabao won't cut the mustard. He has to deliver the Premier League or the Champions League, particularly as it seems we are still in the market for another forward on top of Eze.

Pep would rinse the league with this Arsenal squad.

You know what? I detest Spurs, but this lot take the biscuit with dirty, underhand tactics. And the money that has been spent with one FA Cup ( with an inherited team) and 1 referee aided/ time added on Charity Shield really isn't much of a return for £1 billion. And qhat about the debt?
And, and, and yet they - aided by the other 2 red cheeked Arse cartel have the audacity, with their letter headed paper and Martin Zeigler mouthpiece to call us Cheats for spending our own money. YCNMIU.

At least Spursy won a European trophy last season.

Staying humble I sincerely hope Arsenal win the square root of zilch next season.

Interesting synopsis thanks but "Teta" is pretty cringy - is calling him that really a thing amongst Arsenal fans?

So as to why I'm not on an Arsenal forum - well, imagine the most annoying Arsenal fans you've encountered. Then imagine a forum full of them. So that's why.

Then as to why I'm here - in general this is a good bunch - it's a City forum but you don't have the same cult-like indoctrination you find on many other clubs' forums, plus City fans in general (apart from the real young-uns) have been through thick and (very) thin in the last 20 years or so and as a result tend to be a lot more grounded and not entitled.

So it works for me. I'm a Gooner but it's not life or death for me if we win or not and I don't want to talk about football in an echo chamber which is what would happen on an Arsenal forum.
Sounds fair enough. How do you think Arsenal will do this season? Incorporating a proper centre forward into a team that has played without one for years can be difficult so I would be surprised if Arsenal were to finish first this year. Signing Eze has improved that chance quite a bit.
Personally I think injuries and officiating are going to be the deciding factors this season.

But he has trouble with his ears too, especially around the penalty box.

I think we will finish above Liverpool. I see City as the big challenge. I do feel we have a very deep squad now and a big factor will be what Rodri comes back. If it's Ballon D'Or Rodri then that's going to be massive for you guys. So top 2 (please dear God not 2nd again!)

I think Zubamendi could be the game-changer for you. But you still seem to lack creativity unless Saka comes back properly and Eze beds in quickly. Arteta still seems to lack balls in the big games and you need to cut out the play-acting and the time-wasting. I think it will be a great season with three teams in the race but luck will play its part as usual.

Agreed but I wouldn't take the game we played vs the Rags as indicative of how we will play for most games. We were as bad is it was possible to be (but still beat the 'we're back' United team lol).

I think everyone needs to be super focused from the off - lots of talk about our nightmare starting fixtures but playing at Anfield and then home to City within a couple week timespan might concentrate the mind.

Be in it by end March is vital.
