Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

That's more like it. Delighted with his words about us attacking quicker this season.

Felt he used the subs really well too, actually used all 5 and not just for 3 minute cameos. got the right players on, protection for key players like haaland and stones, good to see. When you've got strength in depth, it's always baffling to not use it, the bench was deeply underused last season.
We only attacked slowly last season because none of our midfielders could run.

Top manager who didn’t feel the need to bring on the seasoned pros.

At two or three nil up, he knew the game was probably won and trusted the younger players who need minutes over the older ones.
Really telling for me that was that he brought O’Reilly on as a no. 10 to replace Bernardo which I think demonstrates where he sees his future, all things being equal (ie ait nouri and Gvardiol don’t get injured)

It was also telling that the players he brought on were the new guys or younger players

Ake , Akanji and Gundogan all stayed on the bench

The Spurs bench will be really interesting as Gvardiol, Foden and Rodri will all be due back in contention

Will he still the three from yesterday in the stand or will the likes of Nico Oreilly and Khusanov make way

He also doubled down on the squad is too big message and that players will have to accept limited gametime

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll find out who that message is aimed at
Agreed. That's what I meant by bringing the right players on. The game was won baring an almighty fuck up, thats the perfect opportunity to get minutes into those that will benefit from it. Sometimes, that will be the older players, who will need minutes over the season but yesterday it wasn't and he nailed the subs.

Don't think we will be seeing rodri next week or gvardiol either, no idea what's wrong with him but he hasnt been involved at all so he's going to need a few weeks to get upto speed. Foden could be involved but we've got a week to avoid injuries before then.

For one reason or another. We had 6 first team players unavailable for the first game, it might be unusual for the first game specifically but that number is about in line with what you can typically expect to have missing on any game day.

Love one moment from the match against Wolves.

Once we were 3-0 , he just go ruthless , right subs , legs in the midfiled and runners ( OReilly, Marmoush , Cherki and Khus aferwards)

Four more years! Four more years!

To hear and see Pep is excited about this season is a great sign. He sees the little things that make him feel the team is "there". Clearly he's much happier, and the camp is full of smiles, togetherness and creativity. Oh yes, this is going to be a good season! If he pulls off another reinvention of Manchester City then I think he has to be recognised as the greatest ever.

I do wonder if he's taken some of the "Pep has ruined football" stupidity personally (because obviously it's Pep's and City's fault that people enjoy his style of play and try to copy it even in Sunday league), and decided to go fast and direct just to show he can still do it.

It also puts Liverpool in a precarious situation, if we do come back and win it. A potential £400m spend if they get Guehi and Isak, if they don't mop up everything then where would they go from there? C'mon blues, greatness awaits!

just watched this, fucking love the guy, also the guy from men in blazers is quality, doesnt ask the usual mundane questions, just subscribed to his channel

some of the whingers should take a leaf out of peps book with his attitude, shit happens and he learns from it, doesnt piss and whinge like a few on here

Pep does not suffer fools gladly. He will have taken absolutely no notice of the ‘Pep has ruined football’ brigade.
He has changed tactics because he believes football is changing (for example to beat the bus parkers) and this is the best way to adapt.
The new purchases were no coincidence.

So; what do we make of the "two further years" guff? Has he been mis-translated, or do we think there may be a chance of him staying on after next season?

He'll never have a job like this again where he has this much respect/ free reign and the owners love him.

FFS just look at last season.. 3/4 of this forum, Sky Sports, BT/ TNT, Talkshite, all the other 19 clubs wanted him gone till Spitty finally got a hint.. he's "unsackable".

He might do another decade here!

Wasn’t 3/4 of this forum it was a group of posters posting the same things over and over again, a few of them have been ever since he arrived on and off.

I think there's a good chance he stays longer. He has been part of the circus at Barca and Bayern. A season like last with one of those clubs and he would have been the scapegoat. But both fans and the board stood by him here, we don't react like they would.

It's a great job and he knows it.

He identified the errors last season, the board have helped fix them and he has brought in a coaching team who he knows will challenge and refresh things.

Perfection.
