It's either Pep has called this all wrong or Frank has set Spurs up in a way nobody could have anticipated.
They're pressing us high up the pitch and they're targeting Trafford who can't play out from the back yet. You can tell Stones and Dias especially don't have faith him yet. That's where the second goal comes from.
But that's just an error. It happens. Maybe those people kicking Ederson out the door should sit down and appreciate what we've had for the last few years and how much we take his skills for granted. I'm fine to go into the season with Trafford and Ortega but the glee with which Ederson's prospective departure is being received has only been exposed as incredibly ungrateful by that half.
Where we're losing the game is in the middle. We've not had a proper period of sustained pressure at any point in the game because there's nobody marshalling. Gonzalez is fine but we need someone else running and scrapping for the team. There's nobody in there who's willing to take responsibility for everyone else so we're getting done on physical duels. That's Bernardo and he needs to come on for Bobb.
Move Cherki wide and Reijnders forward. Give Dias less to do, who's having to cover behind Reijnders because Reijnders doesn't do anything defensively - which we already knew before the season started.
It should be said, Marmoush and Haaland have been poor in front of goal. No reason why Haaland missed that header beyond it just being terrible, terrible execution. We've had more shots than Spurs and more shots on target but our finishing has been underwhelming.
We can still come back and win this but not with that XI. Pep's picked the wrong team for this kind of game, which is fine, but he needs to react quickly by changing it at half-time.
