If Rico had been sprinting from the start, he’d have been there. If he had concentrated on just getting a toe on it, instead of clearing it, he’d have been fine, even though he didn’t sprint back from the outset!I bloody hate being right when i predict problems with the lineup pre-match. Reijnders ineffective deeper in the 2, lack of pace at fullback meant that first was wasn't possible to prevent, no telling if it would have played out like this but i feel like Nunes would have had the recovery pace to get to the squared ball for the first.
And, I don’t even want to blame him for the goal!
It really simple…if you have a clear pass, where the player won’t immediately be under pressure, no problem. The ball should have been to Cherki, but Trafford had zoomed in on the short pass that wasn’t on and he didn’t have the composure to look up, or simply widen his view. Poor pass in a suicide location…and it killed us.As for the second and the general inability to get out, get used to it i'm afraid. I've been saying all along, the moment we dont have Ederson, we will see a return of being pressed high, we'll see lots more turnovers, get badly exposed and struggle far more to get up the pitch. We saw it all today and we'll see it most weeks. The crowd were already getting frustrated by it, dread to think what it'll be like in a few weeks when it's cost us more. Some of those that have become blind to Edersons impact will have their eyes opened.
The 2 Pep’s have work to do. Will they do it?
Hugo also has work to do, and he really, really needs to do it!
