Will we win the league this season?

Its unlikely at least I hope that this season we won't go on a run like we did after winning our 7 games but we clearly are not capable of going the type of runs needed to win enough points to win the title.

Today we needed to make a statement and batter or at least get the three points a side that we should be beating and beating comfortably and we came up miles short.

As mentioned we are in transition , we don't have the depth or mental fortitude to win enough games that are required to win the title.

Why? I think we’ll win the league, but losing KDB will affect us and maybe make it more difficult.

I’m trying my best to be optimistic, but with a hint of caution haha
KDB was well gone last season. You could say though that we lacked quality. Stones, Reijnders, Bobb played very well. No one else did and we were 2nd best in every other position.

I reckon we'll always have a chance as long as we're not miles off the pace come Jan 1st

Saying that, I am rather fearful the table will look grim come mid-September. Hopefully not so grim we can't pick up a run of form with the relatively easier 2nd quarter of the season's fixtures that we have

No chance. Too many soft fuckers. Not enough strength, pace or finishing ability.

Lewis, Dias, Bernardo not the level required anymore.

We are Arsenal latter years under Wenger.

Play good football against the dross, get battered by the elite, weak underbelly, but will have enough to finish in and around 3rd/4th.

We just got to hope Pep hasn't gone the same way Wenger did, where us fans are hoping that he can return to the elite, when in reality the game has maybe moved on from him.

No chance, the problem we will face this season is teams are going to come to The Etihad with no fear, it isnt the fortress it was 5 seasons back where teams were already beaten, everyone knows how we are going to play before the ball is kicked unfortunately.

I think we need to rethink our expectations for the season. We were bullied today, apart from Rodri there is no one physical to come in and stand up to sides like spuds today.
Football has changed rapidly since the start of last season. Everyone is more direct, you get caught on the counter of you play to high up and teams are ready for the physical battle. We have no adaptability, we play one way, which in fairness has blown the rest of the league away for about 6 years straight - but now the way everyone else plays has changed and we are stuck in our ways.
Our quality should be enough to see us through, however results like today against the rest of the “top 6” will come. Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea will have no problem with us and I suspect the rags will even fancy themselves.
The frustration is that this squad is capable of so much.

Think we’ll be mid table if we’re not careful.

Same old shit as last season and less experienced players.

No right. No determination.

sadly this wasnt the last game like this.basically most of the top half will find and punish our weaknesses and not sure Pep knows what to do vs them.
but we find out as next three is Brighton away, rags home, Arsenal away
this wont be 9 points run ,but if not even 4 points thats fucking shit

Unfortunately you can't win the league and lose to Spurs at home. Realistically will Dippers or Tarquins lose to them at home, unlikely. A long way to go and we have the pedigree to win 15 or so on the bounce. But based on today's display we won't win the league. Come on City!!

too early to tell

lots of work to do to get even close though to it...

Balance in midfield - get Rodri fit and he stays fit that helps...any prolonged periods out and we are still fucked like last year -no physicality in the rest of the midfield at present

Get the right back situation sorted in the next week or so - absolutely crucial and has ben since last year and we have had two transfer windows to do it and not done it. At this point even a decent prem level fulback of any type is better than the options we have at present.

Keep Stones fit and play Khusonov as well

Drop rico Lewis, and potentially Dias.

Get Rodrygo in and play him either wide right or left- not essential but probably better than what we hve

Do not buy Donarumma UNLESS pep is prepared to play in a completely different way

Clearly not, be same as last season, top 4 is the priority. We can only bully teams like Wolves and absolutely fold against “better” teams. We are where we are, complacency, being sleepy and trying to save money on transfers has come home to roost.
