I get the advantages of playing out from the back but there has to be common sense attached to it. If a player is man marked three yards from the goal don't pass it there for the sake of a non-existent build up.

To my mind the keeper position is the most important in the team. We have to get it right or we are back to the Bravo days.

If you cannot comfortably play out from the back then don’t. I’m not sure Eddie would have played that ball today, just better to hoof it. Today’s mistake more about decision making
 
We get pressed high up and if the keeper isn't Ederson, we will struggle. With teams playing as high as they do now, there's no point getting a keeper who's as good as Ederson with his feet. Get us a keeper who will be good at the basics a goalkeeper should be good at.

Good as he was it’s the championship. He may well grow into a great PL player but not yet.

We need someone proven at the highest level if we want to challenge for the PL and even make it into the CL next season.
 
Someone, ie half the board, said we'll change our way of playing if we sign Donnarumma.
Well if we keep playing Trafford and we play out from the back we're gonna get beaten regularly anyway.

Both Donnaruma and Trafford ONLY makes sense if we stop playing like we did today. Donnaruma would be made to look just as silly, if not sillier than Trafford did today because he isn't a sweeper at all, and certainly not creative or comfortable with his feet as already discusses to the absolute limit, and this style of football in todays PL and CL puts so much pressure on our defence it is bound to break.

In fact, every signing this year other than Cherki seems to indicate a change of style and then Pep serves us this. Which makes me think that either the rebuild has been done woth another manager than Pep in mind with Pep easing the transition because the right man isn't available, or that Viana is bascally a opportunist in the market which I don't like because you tend to end up like United.

If we are chasing keepers like Donnaruma and Trafford for Pep and genuinly think we can play the same as we did under Eddie we are either absolutely mental at boardroom level or Pep has lost his edge

Trafford’s mistake today had nothing to do with his “feet”.

Any sane goalkeeper including Ederson wouldn’t have tried that pass. It was literally suicidal.

It’s the decision that’s caused the issue. He needs to sort that out quickly.

Rest of the game his “feet” were fine apart from one or two 1970s hoofs to no one.

Deluded - hoof did you see Halland throwing his arms yo because his hoof was nowhere near him
Future keeper no where newer good enough now
I bet Ortega is shaking his head wondering how it went wrong for him
