Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

I think with all the talk of a hypothetical semi against Real or PSG maybe we dont need to worry so much about getting to that particular game based on today.

Started at home with 2:5 vs Leicester in 20/21, then won the league and reached the CL final.

We were poor today due to absence of chemistry, having 5-6 new players + Bobb. Guess we'll improve, but it will take several months.

Replacing all of Kevin, Gundogan, Ederson, and partly Bernardo without difficulties was unrealistic anyway. The new lads need time.

The uncs were good, mind. Some of the younger players will never be that good.

I'd love to agree but I feel it's more systemic, both attacking and defending, than just a case of needing to gel.

We shot ourselves in the foot.

That Stones slip didn't help

Rico being slow to react didn't help

And Ruben not clearing when we were under the cosh definitely didn't help.. FFS take responsibility of a leader there.. it's better to lose the ball 40 yards from goal than 10 yards from goal which is what he pressured Trafford into.

That's just one goal though.

For me, same as last season - we attempted to defend transitions by compressing them in their own box but then couldn't play through it, and haaland has no impact in that scenario. Marmoush and Bobb didn't offer much and Cherki and Reijnders seemed guilty of over-complicating - but that's because we force teams back to set up and build this counter-proof platform that actually rarely stops a counter.

And we attempted to build attacks by playing Ederson-ball, but without ederson which just put undue pressure on Nico and Trafford. Then when Trafford baited the press and went long none of the front 3 chased the lost causes.

As for throwing Bernardo on to settle for 2-nil... that's summed it up.

Savinho, Bobb even Rodrygo are all going to struggle in this set up.

Without Rodri it's systemic. IF he manages to recover and regain form, big if, much of the problems will disappear. As some say, Rodri isn't a system player, he's the system :)

Anyway, replacing Gundo, Kevin and Bernardo won't be easy. It will take time.

On today’s performance, Spurs and Levy don’t need to spend €70mill on Savinho.

$pura can sit back and wait for the phone call from City to agree the transfer.

Nothing to do with not reacting. Rico just being slow didn’t help!

Spurs still need to improve themselves and we're not gonna accept lowballs which is pretty clear at this point. If they don't buy him, we'll keep him and strengthen others areas instead such as a right back position. So it's still in their interest to bring him in.

Imo we aren’t buying a right back irrespective of what happens with Savinho.
