Pep wont play like that though. we dont have the type of players to go back to basics whether you want to or not....our midfield, fullbacks annd wide players cant go back to basics. They are a team that needs to move up and down the pitch in units not stretch the play even more...they dont have the athleticism to do so
Then we need a keeper who has the capability to learn how to be comfortable as a sweeper and command that area behind the defence when they have moved up field. That means we need a fast defender who can do recovery runs to assist the keeper in that task , unfortunately the quick guy is sat on the bench the lesser spotted Kush .

: Gigio Donnarumma has agreed personal terms with Manchester City

Long term deal ready for Italian goalkeeper and talks underway with Paris Saint-Germain over the total fee.

❗️ The deal depends on Éderson’s exit this summer.

Just posted again
old news sick of this depending on Ederson just sign Donnarumma and sort selling later

Like before Pep came, players were signed with Pep in mind. I think that’s happening now for the next manager.
The truth here is that Pep thought he would be long gone from the club before a change of style would need to be brought in .

Im hoping this deal doesnt go through

He is the best shot stopper in the world but yesterday confirmed to me that if we bring him in, teams will just press higher and higher and we will leak goals and high oportunity chances for the opposition. Some of our back 4 are NOT good enough on the ball with a keeper who gives dodgy passes (Rico Dias Ake all certainly not good enough in high pressure situations with the ball at their feet facing their own goal). The issue is that when we then kick long the ball comes right back onto our back 4 - our wingers are too wide and cant hold it up and Haaland will be outnumbered (as he was yesterday) - Pep will therefore have to completely change what he has been doing for nearly 10 years and Im not sure he will do that or has the players who physically can not do it (out wide or in central midfield...playing like that you need athletes and we dont have those in abundance (Rodri and maybe Reijnders aside)

Yes the very pass was poor from Trafford but it wasnt the only problem with playing out from the back yesterday. Some of our defenders made very poor choice of movement and even when they got the ball the passing out was poor as well from them

Best thing we can do is shelve plans for Donaruma and Rodrygo and buy a right back ot 2 and a central midfielder - work with Trafford on his distribution and tell Ederson that he stays until his contract runs out and he can leave on a free with everyones blessing - this helps the transition between goalkeepers and potential style of play as well

The hope I have is that Rodri will be back soon and he helps us build from the back. He knows when to offer for the ball and when not to. And positions his body better when he does.

Plus, I reckon Donnarumma - just purely by having more experience and a bigger personality - won’t be afraid to boot the ball when he feels like he needs to.

He just won the CL and Ligue 1 under Enrique being told to play the same way. It’s not alien to him.

No doubt a world class shot stopper but I hope it doesn’t go through. He’s done the same mistake Trafford did yesterday many times, he’s easily worse on the ball. I think we’ll be more than fine long-term with Trafford. Any funds should be used on a RB IMO and potentially someone like Barcola if Savinho leaves

He is a better keeper than Trafford, but he won‘t solve the problems we had yesterday. In the past, when we were one or two goals behind, you knew, that we can bounce back. But there was no rebellion yesterday, we surrendered to fate. I can live with defeats, now and in the past, but the fans should see some desire of the players, that they tried, which was not the case.

No I see where you are coming from with this.

But isnt the fact that Enrique wants a different type of goalkeeper very telling that Donarumma isnt suited to that style of play despite the success they have had?

Joe Hart had a huge personality - that didnt work out well for him - Pep doesnt want people who wont play the way he wants (look at his relationship with Ibrahimovich (cant stand that twat btw).

Id say PSGs defenders are all better defenders and better on the ball with the physicality as well...plus a much more dynamic midifleld -

If Donarumma comes in it creates more things that need to change and that wont happen this season or even next

What Trafford did yesterday wasn’t a mistake though. It was a school boy decision. The pass was executed exactly how he intended he should just never ever have made it when he was staring at the play. He will learn from it but it shows he’s nowhere near ready in his head for highest level. Donnarumma has won CL and European championships. Donna got caught spending too long on the ball by benzema few years ago but got any examples of him making a brain dead decision when facing the whole pitch like that yesterday?

Ain’t happening mate . For some stupid fucking Reason we feel we have enough to cover right back even though it’s clear as day we don’t . As for donnaruma I want him as he will make us stronger at the back and yes he’s app not great with his feet but fit the past year neither is ederson .
I think Donnarumma saves Johnson's shot and doesn't make that suicidal pass for the second.

Just get him signed and stop pissing about.

Then focus on a top RB and Rodrygo.
The worst part is we had all summer to sort out these problems. They were issues that were clear as day last season yet here we are still pissing about with just over a week to go in the transfer window.

We need top players in the door, stop fucking about and sign some.

Do people actually think Pep and the coaching staff are unaware of his ability on the ball?

If they're after him anyway, does that not tell you something?
That they are potentially wrong?

Kalvin Phillips
Keeping on persisting with Rico Lewis and not buying a right back.
Grealish - worst transfer in recent history
Nunes as a midfielder

All situations where Im sure people said Im sure Pep and the team know what they are doing/are aware ofhis ability with regards to indivdual transfers and they got it very wrong so mistakes do happen

If Pep changes the way we build our play then fine....if he dosnt it wont go the way people are hoping

This signing smells of a Galatico style signing Im afraid
