What else are we supposed to think? I've never seen any manager be held 100% blameless like Pep is by some supporters while shit continues to go sideways. With Rico for example you have a player not suited for a particular position playing in a system that highlights his deficiencies to boot. At a minimum make some allowances to cover for his weaknesses. Someone make this make sense.Oh absolutely, we can comment on his performances which are shite and then ask why he is being picked in the first place. A player we was considering selling had started both games, a bit like why bring a kid on to make his debut in a cup final then fuck him off at the first chance you get. More people are waking up to Peps nonsense now but I genuinely think he is losing the plot
Seriously?Good. Looking forward to your post on selling Reijnders then. Coz his looked ahit every time we've lost.
Peps stubbornness wins. Sometimes that’s at the cost of the team and the way he managed last season proved that to me and is why I wanted a new manager in for the rebuild. When does the cost to the team outweigh his "stubbornness"? Ya can't have a team with this much overall talent look this shit in their home opener off the back of last season and not hold a substantial amount of accountability...Peps stubbornness wins. Cheers.Terribly stupid take.
With the injuries we had, most managers wouldn't make the top 8, let alone the top 3.
When Liverpool lost VVD due to his ACL injury, Liverpool fell from 99 pts to 69 pys, a 30 pt gap.
We lost Rodri, and had multiple injuries to most players, from Stones, Dias, Ake, Kova to Kevin and Haaland.
Cheers.
Given the specific points you've cited, fair play. I agree.
On the other hand, WTF is Lewis staring against Spurs? Anyone at all football nous would immediately recognize this as a weakness.
Pep has proven over time that he's the best in world football... but he's at times inexplicably stubborn - picking players such as Lewis to start even when that would obviously lead to problems.
It shouldn’t ever, but several times his ego has been at the expense of the side. If you are winning and playing well there can be no arguments. If it costs us games, cup finals etc then it needs addressing. When does the cost to the team outweigh his "stubbornness"? Ya can't have a team with this much overall talent look this shit in their home opener off the back of last season and not hold a substantial amount of accountability...
Top 8? You on drugs? We still had one of the most expensive assembled squads with apparently the best manager around. We stumbled to a top 5 finish and lost a cup final to a team in the lower half of the league. Let’s not rewrite history as if he provided a miracle of a season. It was fucking garbage, not because we didn’t win. That’s fine, it was garbage with the level of football he served up which was horrible. being loyal to players who consistently gave nothing and making the same mistakes cost us. He absolutely worked no miracles last season and with a few hundred mil more spent, let’s see if it’s turned around enoughTerribly stupid take.

I don’t want to think but you’re putting words in my mouth. I never said compete for the title. The standard of football served up last year was fucking terrible. You can win lose draw or whatever, to have the players we still could put out, with the manager in charge and declare that was the best that could be served up? Sorry I’m not having it. Injuries can’t be helped. The ageing players are on the club and pep for being so ill prepared for that scenario. There’s no excuse to lose to palace in the way we did, bringing a kid on to make his debut over seasoned players was unforgivable. I hope more than anyone im wrong but if there are no improvements this season after spending another load of money and Rodri returning, then I’ll look forward to the further excuses many will make for himYou don't want to think. When you have many injuries, to the extent you find solutions for the FB positions in midfielders and start academy players in CL and PL games, the fact that the squad is expensive doesn't mean you have to compete for the title or do much better than nobodies on the net expect.
We won 40 pts in the 2nd half of the season, playing with Nunes and O'Reilly at FB, overcoming injuries to Rodri, Stones, Ake, Akanji, Doku, Haaland and having aging midfielders. If you can't realise what it takes to win 40 pts from 19 games in those circumstances, it's your problem.

Liverpool lost a community shield. Comparing that to an fa cup final is idiotic. I don’t want a manager who prioritises a league position over a cup final for starters.Liverpool, with a supposedly much superior team, lost vs Palace recently, couldn't outplay them. Pep gave priority to the CL vack then, we won the last two games after the final, it was worth it. In cup finals anything can happen anyway. My last post on this topic here. If you want to explain better why Pep isn't good enough to manage City, you are welcome to comment in his thread.

I’ve given many concerns over pep within this thread and others. Many like yourself prefer to make excuses for him and believe he got the best out of what he had last season and the suicidal high line is working a charm. His lack of in game management is worrying and you’d think second half we’d have been knocking on the door yesterday. He made no changes and the match continued in the same manner. I fear his time is up and like many other great managers you reach a point where you hit that wall. Wenger, Jose etc all became laughing stocks after being the very best. It’s still opinions and we can fully judge this season but yesterday was troubling to say the least, off the back of a stinker of a season
Yeah. What changed yesterday? What changes in games we are behind in? There’s been games we are losing where he makes no changes at all. Just rinse and repeat and hoping/expecting different results.his lack of in game management? WTF HA

He waves his arms around, spits, and makes apparently uninspiring speeches at half time.
One way of playing. No plan B.
Yesterday's man.
He does a lot of spitting and it’s horrible….yuk.He waves his arms around, spits, and makes apparently uninspiring speeches at half time.

If you have to go back that many years to show in game management then that tells it’s own story.and what about the games we've won when behind? who was in control when we beat villa 3-2 for instance?
