Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Agreed.

He either plays in behind Haaland or starts up front in place of Haaland.

Absolutely wasted out wide.
Although I prefer him on the left to Doku

If he plays behind Haaland then we are sort of in 4 1 3 2 territory

The 1 is Rodri but who are the 3

We haven't played the system since the CL final. We finished that season with 4 centre halves on the pitch with Stones stepping into midfield. We've tried every single variation of getting another defender into midfield apart from a centre half stepping in. That's why it doesn't work.

I agree about getting back to basics of 4-3-3 but we don't have the players to do it. The only way that system works is if you have players with pace and a directness on the wings. We have neither
We've played it with Akanji at RB & Gvardiol at LB. We've essentially got a team of CB's & midfielders.

We need a tactical reset. We've bought several players since January, so if we still don't have the players to play a flat back four, it's by design. Pep's design.

However, I disagree. We now have RAN & we have Lewis & Nunes. Any perceived lack of FB's is down to Pep. We've had enough time/opportunities to rectify our shortcomings.

I very much doubt that they have offered higher than 50m, if they have, accept it and try to get Alvarez back

Of course it's tactical and this is my point. We've played Akanji at full back and then asked him to push in midfield. We've had Gvardiol at left back and expected him to maraude down the wing like Ait Nouri does.

I'm not having Nunes as a full back. Not as long as he's got a hole in his arse is he good enough for us. And to go into the season with him and Lewis as our only right backs is nothing short of negligence of the highest order

The RB position should have been sorted early summer. Nunes and Lewis are limited to varying degrees in that role. It could become a real problem.

The question is, why isn't he?
Because he’s better out wide than Alvarez was so think they are trying to make it work. Let’s be honest he started the game well yesterday and looked a threat to begin with.

We lost complete control of the game and he couldn’t do much after that - not the only one.

Most of the time he finishes that 1vs1.

Some people saying he’s a failure amaze me!

Haaland looked more comfortable dropping deeper and something that will keep happening if he has a player like Marmoush to run behind.

100 mill euros from Levy or fuck him.
Fuck him anyway.

We could seriously do with a player that makes more of an impact though so he could do us a huge favour.

How many times did we see Pep lay into Savio last year for his press/defensive work. Spurs were incredible yesterday and can’t see him being the best fit in that system. At the same time he could flourish, time will tell.

“Sources say the winger has already been convinced of the role he would play under Thomas Frank, with Tottenham selling him on the freedom and creativity he would enjoy in their system.

Savinho believes he would have a greater chance of realising his potential at Tottenham, where he could express himself more than he currently does at Man City.”

Has anything been actually attributed to Savinho himself saying it?
Loads of sources, supposed bids but anything definite?
