Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Of course it's tactical and this is my point. We've played Akanji at full back and then asked him to push in midfield. We've had Gvardiol at left back and expected him to maraude down the wing like Ait Nouri does.

I'm not having Nunes as a full back. Not as long as he's got a hole in his arse is he good enough for us. And to go into the season with him and Lewis as our only right backs is nothing short of negligence of the highest order

From Feb/March onwards Nunes was very good as a RB and seemed to cut the mistakes out of his game. He was also contributing going forward. I feel he is worth persisting with if, as seems likely, we don't sign a RB. Rico can do the hybrid role but leaves us even more exposed defensively.

Any player doing the hybrid role will leave us more exposed defensively, that's why I seriously wish Pep would ditch this tactic.

Those blaming Rico for the failings of the inverted FB system are yet to offer up another player who could play that system any better.

It's not Rico at fault, it's Pep's inverted FB obsession. It's done, it's over, it's been sussed, but Guardiola seems intent on persisting with it regardless of the damage it's causing City.

He was not good! He was adequate and prone to absolute howlers with regularity that cost us points. Right now he's one of two poor options so I guess we will have to just go with it and hope his concentration improves.

Do you think Khaldoon & HRH will see City implode first whilst waiting for Pep to decide if/when he wants to remain or go?

Seriously mate... I've only heard of the wholesale sacking of the coaching staff & the blocking of a player sale for a manager whose losing the confidence of those above him.

Pep isn't too big to fail, & City aren't too big to fall. We only have to look toward Salford to see what can happen if action isn't taken when potentially terminal problems arise.
Reality steps in somewhere between these competing viewpoints. Pep has built up a lot of credit but this is not inexhaustable. I suspect that if we have another indifferent season, with no obvious improvement in place, a decision will be made to move on to the next era. This will be done diplomatically and may result in a mutually agreed parting of the ways. I am hopeful that we will improve upon last Saturdays woeful performance, but results ultimately dictate the fate of all managers in the modern game. No one is immune from this, not even Pep.

I'm gutted with our general performances since last November mate. We just don’t look like the same dominant Manchester City & something doesn't seem right.

I seriously hope Pep can sort it out soon, but our management's main duty of care is to Manchester City Football Club above all else.

It's the jewel in the CFG crown & central to our global expansion, so I doubt they'll sit idly by for another season if we begin turning into the Sky Blue version of that lot at Old Toilet.

So they let us know they will bid more without actually putting a bid in!?

So the rang us and said hey we going to bid more put phone down! Utter garbage
tbf, its handy to know so City know they are serious.

Alternative is, they say were not going over 60m and Viana doesn't need to worry about finding a replacement etc because we would never accept that.

Only way that happens if they say they will bid what we want not we will bid more!

Wouldn't it make more sense to offer however much they're offering?
Reminds me of one of those Turkish bazaars.
You haggle for 20 minutes about buying a few t shirts, walk away and then one of the sellers runs down the street after you and then offers you twice as many t shirts for half the price.

I hate the fact that a massive drop off that started in Nov 2024 happened out of nowhere. It felt like we were on top of the world right before that because Rodri just won Ballon d'Or.
