It's Quiet the £250m return

It's not my imagination mate. Pep made a huge error of judgement regarding the commencement of our squad rebuild & it cost us dearly.
Possibly a year or two too late with the rebuild

A bit like the tourist in Ireland who asks one of the locals for directions to Dublin. The Irishman replies: ‘Well sir, if I were you, I wouldn’t start from here’.

Fair enough let’s see next summer on Doku then. Looks like Sav wants out so no point discussing that
Indeed. We will all have differing opinions on players. BUT...everyone here wants EVERY one of our players to thrive and be successful. We all do want the same things but we express things differently and have differing expectations on how quickly it can happen.

It's not my imagination mate. Pep made a huge error of judgement regarding the commencement of our squad rebuild & it cost us dearly.

Pep's preference of a small elite squad rinsed out our players, & we had little to fall back on. Even Rodri, Foden & Bernardo have publicly said they were being rinsed & were physically, emotionally & mentally fucked. I doubt they've said this in public without being aware our manager has also publicly stated the opposite.

The only times I've seen the wholesale sacking of a backroom team with the manager remaining, is when a manager is being given a final chance to change things & improve the teams fortunes.

Reports that several of our former backroom staff had mentally checked out last season is a concerning sign if true. It shows a coaching team at odds with their manager.

Several reports have stated the blocking of Savinho to Spuds is coming from those above Guardiola. Even if similar has happened before, it's strange that it's now it's been leaked.

It's obvious that Pep's revolutionary inverted FB has been sussed by every team we face, but it seems Pep is determined to stick with his system. Do you think the elite management team at Manchester City have failed to notice what so many are openly discussing?

We brought in a new coaching team, & the first three games of the CWC showed huge promise with a new formation & a return to our famed swagger.

Since Al Hilal, we've returned to Pep's inverted FB system, with similar performances & results to last season. Do you really think those above Pep have failed to notice? Based on our performances against Wolves & Spuds, can you honestly say there are solid signs of a marked improvement for the season ahead?

I'm no ITK, but at what point do several coincidences become a pattern that need to be stopped before they set like concrete?

A school of thought is emerging on BM that our period of dominance is over. I mostly disagree, as player for player, I think we can compete with anyone. With a few ruthless sales & a couple more elite incomings, I think we can again have a squad advantage.

However, if we continue to persevere with Pep's intervted FB tactic, I'm sorry but I'm forced to agree with those who say our period of dominance is over. It's all down to how Pep plays it this season, & I honestly doubt a global organisation like Manchester City Football Group have failed to notice all the above, & will wait until we implode before they act, regardless of Pep's historic, record-breaking successes.

It's not my imagination mate. It's just my honest observations & my humble opinion. I honestly hope I'm wrong & respect your right to disagree, but something hasn't been right with Guardiola for the last 12 months.

I disagree with most if not all of that, but fair play on outlining it, clearly enough. I think you are reading into things that aren't necessarily there to read into. Hopefully I am right and you are wrong, guess we can both agree there.

He has held his hands up on that. Nevertheless, the long-term injuries to Rodri and Bobb, and the continuous absences of stalwarts like Stones, Ake, KDB, Foden, et al. compounded that error and turned it into much more than it was. These things can happen, but we haven't felt it for such a long time that it felt, at times, like we were utterly imploding. The press and rival fans love that, of course, as we have loved to witness United's demise.

That Ty Marshall from the M.E.N seems to have a decent contact at City and reckons that if Akanji or Ake leave then they wont be replaced? Seems a bad idea that with Stones injury record?

I think Reis' loan deal including a break clause probably gives us the insurance we need. If we lose Ake AND Akanji then we'd definitely need an extra body.

We really need to respond to the market.

If it's me, in fantasy football mode this week...

Sell -
Akanji
Ederson
Savinho
Gundo
Ake
Phillips
Kovacic
Gonzales

Bring

Baleba
Donnarumma
Rodrygo
Livramento
Gheui

It's gonna take something like radical surgery to have us clearly out in front again.
100% agree with that but I think you missed Ortega off the list.

Sadly, i can only see Donnarumma coming in.

I think we did so well Not to implode, at least off the pitch. And by that I mean drastic, like the manager walking etc. But instead to stick through it as a team and finish off, with wobbles, in 3rd and close to winning a cup, bar a few margins and refereeing calls going the right way.

It could get the team resolute and firing, but it is still all a bit shoogley at the same time. We could go on a winning run, we could also lose a bunch again. That's kind of where we look to be, and the only way through that is winning games consistently and getting the confidence back. New players will need time, old players beed to shake that off.

I think Kovacic stays, but you could add Ortega to the list and possibly Nunes too (I believe the latter has quite a lot of suitors). Other than that, I'm absolutely on board with everything else you have said.

No worries mate, but can I ask if you know the above for sure, or like me, are your comments your personal opinion?

Can I also ask, if this season continues much the same as last season, whilst teams behind & in front of us improve & progress, at what point dya think our board will act decisively to stop the rot?

Also, what action will the board take to stop the rot?

There's no rot mate, just a normal transition after the greatest period in club history: the Treble and 4 in a row.

Some of the players are a bit oldish now and are being replaced by young players. These need time. Rebuilding goes together with inconsistency.

How long will it take? Nobody can say. Guess we want to compete for the trophies, but the main objective is to build a third great City team, after the 1st one with Aguero, David, Ferna, Kompany, Sane, Sterling..., and the 2nd one built around Kevin, Gundo, Bernie, Ederson and Stones.

If Pep can't win a CL place for next season, he's likely to go. Nobody is going to fire him. Given what he has given to the club, staying with us for so many years and winning so many trophies in difficult times (uefa, 115...), the club will be absolutely patient and rightly so. United were patient with Ferguson when he was failing between 2003 and 2006, we'll support Pep to the end.

If Akanji leaves, I don't think he will be replaced. If both leave, I struggle to see us not replacing one.
