Have you tested your tactical knowledge in real life? Have you managed anything?
It's great to have ideas and think crititically, but it's silly to pretend that you fully understand Pep's tactical intentions and why they fail to materialise.
We won 40 pts from the last 19 games with midfielders at FB, due to multiple injuries at the back, and the likes of Haaland missing 5-6 weeks. 40 pts from the last 19 games was the best any team won in that period. Even if we accept that Liverpool won the title early and Arsenal focused on the CL, we did very well having so many injury problems and aging players. No signs of Pep's tactical ineptitude you imply.
Again, it's great to have opinions, but one shouldn't forget he has no experience in football management and no deep knowledge of the game. You seem to struggle to differentiate reality from your wonderfully imaginative thoughts. Come back to reality mate.
Mate, I've got two eyes in my head & can analyse a game much the same as you can. Fine, you disagree with my personal analysis & opinion, but that's exactly what they are, my personal analysis & opinion.
You've expressed your valued opinions, but what makes yours any more valid than anyone else's?
My opinion isn't a kneejerk reaction. It's based on years of watching City & football in general over several decades & making personal assessments accordingly.
Just because you can't "fully understand Pep's tactical intentions and why they fail to materialise", doesn’t mean others can't.
Example: As soon as I saw the CL final line-up against Chelsea, my heart sank as I knew we'd be beaten. The same applies to the FA Cup final against Palace. It wasn't just me, many City fans felt the exact same.
Do you think football fans don't have the Right to analyse & comment on what they see? Do you think we don't have the right to analyse & comment unless we've managed a team to Champions League victory? It's you whose not being serious.
You've looked at the points won at the end of last season & reasoned all is rosey in our garden. I've focused on our performances across last season & into this.
It's our performances I find concerning since last November, hence why I'm not cherry picking a 6 week period & ignoring everything before & since.
After our January & summer purchases, I largely put my concerns to bed, but after 3 matches of change in the CWC, we reverted to the same tactics as last season & I saw the same problems emerging & they've continued on into this season imo.
If that doesn't concern you then fine, but I'm taking a longer term, considered view, so you're damn right I'm becoming concerned. Not so much with our purchases, but with the way we're being setup to play.
It seems to me that the opposition have sussed a way to counter Pep's inverted FB tactic. We've enough to overcome the lesser teams because of our better individual quality, but since last November, we've seriously struggled against stronger teams. That isn't just an opinion, it's fact.
I may not have managed a football team to CL glory, but I've managed large work teams most of my working life, so can sense when problems are occurring, & if they're being adequately dealt with.
I can see the same issues which affected us last season, & that's where my current concerns lie, as our boss seems intent on sticking with what has, & is currently failing us, & that's our inverted FB tactics.
Thay's where I stand, so perhaps you can give me your expert analysis about last season, how you see this season panning out, & why your analysis is any more valid than anyone else's.
Also, have you "tested your tactical knowledge in real life? Have you managed anything? Please explain when & where...
