I’d rather not be in that position and how many times has that happened?
I’d much rather be us that develop players that play for us Trafford Foden Oreily Bobb Lewis all in the current squad then look how many more have left and done well elsewhere giving the club a good income Let’s see where this kid is in a years time or we saw tonight is him get in a good position and finish one that he should have
Oh I agree, not knocking our Academy and it pays its way.

We seem to prefer to test players when they are a bit older and introduce them over a long period of time.

Just typical they have a lad go grab 3 points. A draw against 10, having been 2 up would have been a jolt for them.

So well fought by Newcastle, how on earth didn't they bring the deserved draw over the line? So much heart and so little brain, it hurts.

Gordon the hot head, Trippier a total liability.

Geordies should have scored 3+ before HT and would've with Isak.
Lucky dippers got away with it, fucking insane!

The Scouse c*nts were bang average.
Slot was like a Rabbit in head lights.
Only VVD holds them together.(at the back)
Wirtz has done nothing so far.
Sadly they will will always score goals.
Why Newcastle didn't shut up shop and take the draw is beyond me?
With 5 minutes to go in AET Newcastle should have put 5 across the back and 4 Infront of them.

Lots of fans say no, but in my opinion if he stays and then scores a few goals or an important winner, then there is a way back.
I think him coming back into the squad though would be dependant on him singing a new contract with a release clause for foreign Champions League clubs.

We have to keep him in anyway, we showed today that we have a good squad who can compete. In our first 2 games we have played Aston Villa, and Liverpool, and deserved to win both of those games. So at the end of the season we should be up there, and hopefully going deep in the cups. We can’t let our striker go, especially one of the quality of him, additionally we can’t let him go to Liverpool. Since Howe has came in we have actually went toe to toe with Liverpool in pretty much every match, with the exception of the away match last season where we hid our tactics ahead of the cup final against them a week and a half later.
We can’t be selling our star player to them or any other club we hope to challenge titles for.

I’ll tell you this now, our first team is so good under Howe, that if PSR had allowed us to expand the rest of the squad, and keep the likes of Isak, we’d be winning the league this year instead of looking to do it in 5-10 years time.

Thanks, interesting and FWIW I agree, it won’t be the same but if he is scoring you’ll find away to live together.

Interesting on a foreign CL team as really only PSG or Real who could pay that amount outside of PL and might need to be cheaper to tempt them.

PSR comment is also interesting, as you know if your on here City fans don’t consider ourselves part of the big 6 or are in favour of these rules, Martin Samuel is the best journalist on this and always described it as a drawbridge, which rightly or wrongly we did what we did before it went up.

Newcastle and Man United would make such a good article and snapshot of what PSR do. We’ll have different answer on this, I’m sure but our opinion on the rules will be similar.

A great question is who wins the PL next, United or Newcastle…

Now the answer should be you guys, just won League Cup, owners wishing to invest, in the CL and on the whole brought well in the transfer market. Genuinely on the way up.

But for me despite finishing 15th, owners criticised for taking money out of the company and not investing, no European football performing poorly both on the pitch and in the transfer market.

But this transfer window shows they can still drop £200 million +, attract players (tends to mean pay high wages and go again). Newcastle can’t do that and if you invest for CL and you don’t make it again like Villa found, it becomes very problematic for you.

So I go United, as they keep getting another chance no matter how much they mess up, You guys have to keep defying the odds.

It’s a glass ceiling protecting the elite and that’s before VAR (which was somewhat questionable in their game against Fulham)

The lad actually came from the Chelsea academy last year. Chelsea suffering for not showing their young 'uns a path into the 1st team.

They aren’t winning the league.
I have said before how they have no bottle in the big games. A big game today with the Isak situation. They went 2-0 up and a man up, and we were the better team. They let it slip to 2-2. If the referee had given us a freekick and them a 2nd yellow when we were free on goal and he pushed off the ball, if the 2 penalties in the box were given, they would have been beaten.
Honestly man, they needed 11 minutes of stoppage time picked out of the referee’s arse to beat us.

Also, seen how the referee went full scumbag mode and let them counter attack when our player was down with a head injury?
Absolutely no excuse for that, should be immediately sacked for that.
which big games have we lost??? (dont make this about your crappy cup win please)

But you voted PSR in remember…

Jeesus listen to it ,, straight out of the Wimbledon and Bolton phrase book......
You do know that it's ok to play to your strengths right? A corner goal counts the same as Maradona's solo effort against England.

Dippers look wobbly at the back, we are lethal at set pieces (we have scored from every single corner Declan Rice has taken this season) and Gyokeres will fancy himself against Konate, plus even with Saka out what we have to come in will cause problems for their wing backs.

All probably negated of course by Arteta deciding to play 'Terror-ball' at Anfield and of course a ref deciding to make it all about himself.

But the fact the Dippers are already relying on late goals (something that usually happens for them towards the end of the season when they are knackered) isn't a good sign for them. They need to keep VvD fit for the rest of the season.

I haven't changed my prediction that City (and Arsenal) will finish above Liverpool as they'll not get the injury luck of last year, Salah will be at Afcon, their wing backs look shaky, Konate looks like he's on meth, Wirtz is a top player but physically is going to struggle.

You're actually in a better position (on GD) this season than you were in the corresponding fixtures last season even though there's the usual doom and gloom on here from City fans there is at this time every season (even in the treble season).

You lost the cup final against us.
You lost against PSG in the first big game in the Champions League. You played Plymouth which considering the younger players you put out, was a big game for them and lost, you lost the charity shield a couple of weeks ago.
You got a get out of jail card tonight, but were out fought by a team with 10 men and surrendered a 2 goal lead in a match that your actions as a club built the atmosphere, pressure, and tension up for.
You’re fucking bottling it.

It’s only took 10 years to suss him out haha
Same with Saka, double up on him, lean in with your shoulder, the times I’ve seen people do that, he goes missing after the first 20 minutes.

Salah was up against our 2nd string left hand side the cup final with Hall being out injured, and Gordon being suspended, Barnes, and an out of position Livramento kept him quiet.
