CL draw is on Thursday 5pm this week.

first game will be right between rags home and Arsenal away game. last year we started vs Inter (another pot 1 side) so if the schedule method is same we may again start vs Pot1 side.

Pep will need to work with the team and improve our ideas/tactics/form in the meantime despite international break coming up too, as its gonna be hell of a week as we return from break.
Could easily be Rag/PSG/Arsenal or Rags/Barca/Arsenal run of 3 games within 7 days after the break.

surely we learnt our lesson in this new format you need to try to finish top8 to reduce risk of a big failure early on and dont even reach last 16. that shouldnt happen to us again.

It's feasible but not pre-determined to be a Pot 1 side. Just as much chance of Pot 4.

It also means this is a possibility for Arsenal though.

We could face another English club in the mini-league as there are six English clubs this season.
As an aside, does anybody know when the draws for the Thursday leagues take place. Just to wind up some raggies.

We can't face an English club in the group stage, and only 2 from the same country maximum.

Last season they said teams from the same country could face each other if they had four or five in the competition and if trying to separate them would screw up the draw.

It was the same rules last season, "they" allowed teams from the same association to play in last 16 when it had been last 8 before that.

This is the last 36 and last year 16 nations were represnted so not difficult to avoid clashes.

We need to get as high as is possible with our current team if we want to qualify for the next club World Cup.
We are well down in the rankings and our only hope of catching arsenal and liverpool may be to get to a final.

From UEFA rules posted on givemesport.com last summer:
Due to these rules, clubs from the same nations will be able to play one another. UEFA will try to avoid it, but there is a possibility that it will have to happen to avoid a deadlock — a situation where the draw can not be completed fairly without teams from the same nation playing one another. This will only be an issue for nations with four or more teams in the competition. Premier League champions Manchester City could be facing Arsenal in the group stage, which would sum up the craziness of the prestigious tournament in a nutshell.

Better hope Celtic win as a long trip to the Kaza team for us will be nailed on between the rag/arse games

Won't we have to win the CL to get into the club world cup?

That from a clickbait site not Uefa.

It is like saying some teams will play 39 premiler league games this season, as it is a mathematical possibility.

It is avoidable in this instance. It's not so much the total number of teams that qualify, more if there was more than three in any one pot.

If any of Arsenal/Spurs/Newcastle had also been in Pot 1 as well, it would have been unavoidable. It just means the other 6 pot 1 teams will play an English side home and away.

No direct impact to us, except arguably an easier draw on paper compared to non English Pot 1 sides because we can't get eg Newcastle from Pot 4.

Paphos have just qualified. Few days in Cyprus would be very nice indeed.
Paphos (Cyprus), Bodø (Norway), and Kairat (Kazakhstan) qualified tonight.

Three very different trips there.

Decent away options as a fan, but if we got them at home it would be a bit shit. City would have to price it well.

Just saying on the other CL thread that those away days will be high demands due to them being new destinations to visit, but the allocations will be tiny.

City deep down will be hoping we don't draw any of those teams because the marketing to sell them out at home will have to go into overdrive.

Cyprus could be popular but I don't think the previous trip to Cyprus against Omonia Nicosia sold out.

I think the difficulty and expense of getting to the other two will keep demand around the level of supply.

You don’t get home and always against the same sides any more remember.
