If Akanji goes, we still have 5 centre backs and I'm not convinced Guehi is a significant upgrade on any of them (maybe Ake but he's cover for Ait Nouri too). Bringing him in would be a waste of whatever spending room we have left

Agreed. I think Guehi is the shiny new toy to some, completely ignoring the CB options we already have, Reis and Bah on loan and hopefully ready to be integrated next season in place of Stones/Ake, and the other glaring issues in our squad that need addressing.

Get the GK sorted. Then whatever we get for other sales, invest in a right back.
