Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Did u remember the first game of the last season against Chelsea? Savinho was the best player on the pitch. It was Chelsea by the way not spurs . Bobb lacks pace . In the PL I don’t know about one efficient winger that doesn’t somehow rely on his pace.
Messi Ricky Holden and maybe Mahrez

I don’t know where you’ve got this from about Bobb. He’s got a decent turn of pace. If you’re going off Saturday that Spence he was up against is absolutely rapid. Easy to forget David Silva played from the right for a long time before becoming a number 8. Bernado has also had many a good game out there and is as slow as it gets at this level. Foden also plays there a lot too. Big difference is they need a fullback to go past them to open things up. Instead of Nunes bombing on for Bobb on Saturday we had Rico playing in that role Pep is still bloody obsessed with.

Not sure I saw Bobb produce much danger on Saturday?
Easily our best player I thought and the only City player who got the better of his opposite number.

I’d be interested in seeing stats against the low block if such a thing exists. I doubt Girona faced much of it and we get it every week.
Which could be a good argument if Savinho didn’t regularly manage to get into good positions against low blocks last season. Time will tell but i think he’s too naturally talented to not kick on from last season and start to take the chances he should be burying.

Big fan of Bobb too. Hope they both get plenty of minutes this season

Initially I was happy to see Savinho leave if it meant that Rodrygo arrived. Over the past few days however, I am increasingly coming round to the view that we need to keep Savinho. It might be that I'd overhyped a slightly petulant Rodrygo in my own mind, but I also put a lot of stock in Thomas Frank apparently really pushing hard to sign Savinho. He's clearly an excellent manager with an eye for talent, as demonstrated at Brentford.

I'd really like to see Savinho on the left. He played the vast majority of his football on the right last season, but all of his best contributions for City and Girona came from the left.

Feels like it boils down to how much Spurs have actually offered - if that is 70m euros + it would be a risk to assume that in 12 months he would be valued higher and I think it would be a good deal for us to sell. Use those funds to sign a right back and stick with what we have hoping that Foden, Cherki & Bobb reach their undoubted talents collectively.

If Spurs are dicking about and have not offered anywhere near that he will stay but it will be mighty interesting to see how he plays if he remains. My one gripe about him was he seems to not be that up for a battle and when things are not going well will throw his hands up and stop working hard. Added to his poor finishing last year - if he has another season like last 70m will seem a long way away. Of course he could stay and have a wow of a year - who knows?
