Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

I love your optimism, but 3 of those 5 players were playing in a much lesser league for all/majority of their contributions.

We've seen 2 years of Doku, who won't improve his numbers any further

Savinho doesn't want to be here, albeit i do think he's the more likely of the wingers to contribute

Bobb looks a good prospect, but not someone who would have been a regular during the treble campaign

Marmoush, let's wait and see, but he certainly won't get anywhere near 34 G/A playing out on the left

None of these players (Foden aside) get in the treble winning squad, and yet we are now relying on them to carry a lot of the weight in terms of G/A; id also argue that none of them (Foden aside) get into Liverpools, and potentially Arsenals team
We aren’t and shouldn’t expect to be a treble winning squad, that took time to build to and will again. This squad is just beginning that process, like the previous squad just challenging and possibly winning the league this season is enough. A few would get in both liverpools and arsenals teams.

Our recruitment since the treble has been horrendous we had the best team in the world. And we let brilliant players go not the clubs fault but they wanted to go we let world class players get old and slow together. Instead of freshening up the squad with one or two world class players each season we have went for quantity not quality. Buying 40/50m players instead of buying maybe 1 80/90m player. Some of the signings we make hardly get anywhere near the bench let alone the starting 11
Sadly, I agree with you. Whatever blue tinted glasses we wear, surely the fact that our signings were at relatively low prices reflects that they were not universally accepted as world class. Cherki and Nico are not playing for their national teams and Reijnders was behind Scott McTominay as series A player of the year. And Kerkez was voted Premier league left back of the year, rather than Ait Nouri.

So either we’re expecting Pep magic to add more than the sum of the parts or we believe our scouts have seen something that others haven’t.

Can't believe I'm writing it but Napoli's version of Scott McTominay is absolutely unreal tbf. The most improved player in all of football.

Be nice to have evolution and not revolution

I’d say after the treble and having pep as manager we were world class maybe it’s the uncertainty of when pep will pack it in,the 115 charges or the club just trying to be smart and do things on the cheap im
Not sure

West Ham, with Grealish on the left?

We certainly played that way in the 4-0 win against Slovan Bratislava, with Savinho left and Doku right. The players themselves changed sides for spells during the Chelsea game away and another home game, but I got the impression that was their decision and not Guardiola’s.
Pretty certain it was Savinho left and Doku right, very early last season in the league, just can't remember what game, memory maybe playing tricks and it could have been away.

Had a look through the fixtures and pretty certain now that it was Chelsea away. No way players are changing positions without Pep telling them to. He'd string them up if they did that.

Makes me wonder why we stopped this. Looking at PSG as an example where the wingers interchange.

Pleased he's staying (if indeed he is).

Didn't live up to expectations last season but deserves another year. There's a player there, just got to find out how to bring out the best in him.

Like Bernardo, eh?
Well what’s the alternative? Keeping a player that wants to leave? I feel with Bernardo, he won it all with us and always played for the club with passion, if he wanted to move nobody would hold it against him, he is a legend. I always got the feeling the move was wanted due to family reasons rather than not wanting to be at City.

Whereas Savinho, in terms of his career the club and the CFG have give him a platform to fulfill his dream and I feel he hasn’t reciprocated any of that, definitely not on the pitch after last season anyway. Why does he want to leave? He was our 2nd most played attacker last season. It stinks.

How disappointing, he’s very average and rodrygo would have been a massive upgrade. Hopefully that means we see more Phil on the right

I think the club will let him go and on deadline day we might see a few comings and goings. There's absolutely no way Pep will want a player who'd like to play for Spurs than us. It's not like he's not playing and they are better than us. If he would rather play for them, he needs fucking off I'm afraid.

Any other club and he is sold.

City hate spurs, it’s that simple.

Don’t rate savio as highly as some. Looks well below the previous standards set by city wingers.

Turning out to be a weird end to the window.
