Forget top 8. PSG didn’t make top 8 and it turned out okay for them. Just make sure we get to the last 24 and take it from there. By then we’ll either be ready and much improved from last year or we’ll have no chance anyway.
 
I thought our draw was okay last year, but we ended up playing the two finalists, drawing with one and pushing the other quite close until we crumbled. Got a very tough playoff as well.

Hopefully it's all a bit more straightforward this time for us.

It isn't hugely difficult to make the top 8 in terms of results. Andrew even the playoff is okay if the bigger teams have made it.

I don't like this new format, but the group stage was full as well. Seems odd there's not much reward for finishing top though. Didn't the dippers get PSG?

Top 8 is very important if we want to qualify for the next CWC.
We are already way behind arsenal and liverpool in the current rankings.
 
In ranking terms, the worst possible draw is:
  • Paris Saint-Germain
  • Barcelona
  • Benfica
  • Club Brugge
  • Napoli
  • Sporting CP
  • Union Saint-Gilloise
  • Athletic Club
Best possible draw.
  • Borussia Dortmund
  • Internazionale
  • Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Villarreal
  • Bodø/Glimt
  • Ajax
  • Kairat
  • Pafos
Whilst either of these draws are possible, albeit hugely unlikely, for City, it is equally possible of course for all the other 5 English teams.
