The Little Horse

Glad we missed out on all three to be honest
At some point, we needed to make a significant investment. KDB and Walker have gone. It's reasonable to describe City as in transition. This window needed to be transformative; so far, it is underwhelming. Four days remain in the window for the club to fulfil its promise to the supporters, and it's not looking hopeful.

It's possible that we can still challenge for the title, but we would need Stones and Rodri to fully recover and stay fit, and for O'Reilly, Bobb, Khusanov, Marmoush and Doku to make significant improvements. That's a very hopeful outlook.

The end of the window is approaching and we should be appraising what we have done.

Disappointed after seeing the thread title that this isn’t about Stuart Pearce and Beanie.

It is a reference to Mourinho's comments on a previous title race, and City's minor transfer spend when compared to Liverpool and Arsenal. Four days remain in the window. We have spent a net £66m in a Summer window in which players like KDB and Walker left the club. It was tight that they left the club, but they needed to ne replaced. What we have done so is not enough in my opinion. I am now hoping that the club brings Donnarumma in. If we do, then that would be the bare minimum. Then, we would have brought in 2 world class players in Reijnders and Donnarumma albeit lost Ederson, but that would be his wish, if it happens.

Agreed.

Missed out on Rice, missed out on Bellingham, missed out on Wirtz.

Show me the money Khaldoon or stop talking big, your smooth talking schtick is wearing thin
Wirtz is the only one I’d worry about missing out on there. Bellingham went to Madrid most players would go there first no matter what club is in for them and Rice wanted to be the main man in midfield that wasn’t going to happen with Rodri there

Rodri and Rice have different midfield roles.

Reijnders may turn out to be the most significant signing of the Summer window. City need this to be so, we also need Cherki to come good (a more speculative signing) and for academy players such as O'Reilly, Rico and Bobb to come good. We will need Foden to recapture his form too. It's not impossible that City can challenge for the title from this position, but almost everything would have to go right for us, and for the first time in a while, Liverpool and Arsenal have stronger squads than Manchester City. We are the Little Horse where once we were the Shire horse.

I agree. My views on City swing wildly according to results. That might be reasonable though. In the Summer we could dream. Now the dreams are tested for real.
At last I've got a handle on you.
Thank you for confirming my suspicions.

I don't think Khaldoon always delivers on the promises from them interviews. We haven't performed well in a window since probably Haaland and Alvarez signing in the same one. I am hopeful this window improves us but what Saturday shown was it will take time if it does as we bought mainly non proven prem players.

I don't even watch Khaldoons end of season interviews anymore, I see the odd clips on social media popping up. All fart and no poo.

Another bag of shite !!
I bet you weren`t saying that after we beat Wolves handsomely.

It is mad how angry and offended posters get without actually reading a post. I have spoken on this window and hoping it is a good one. So even if I did overreact after beating Wolves (I didn't) I actually was hopeful around this window.

A bag of shite you say, so please tell me that since the Haaland window, what window has impressed you so much? I would have thought everyone felt the same that our recruitment has been piss poor for quite a few windows. Off the back of the treble we lost Mahrez, Palmer, Laporte and brought in Doku and Gvardiol. Gvardiol isn't a bad signing obviously but as a window that is crap for comings/goings. We replaced Gundogan with Gundogan a year later. It is common knowledge that we are in this position due to recruitment.

Considering you are stalking me to say my post is a bag of shite (mods?) You should know that after Wolves I posted to say I enjoyed seeing us win but Wolves are crap, will probably go down and even that being said, got in behind us several times. Whilst a 4-0 win was great to start the season, our defence concerned me and I was proved right a week later.

The table illustrates transfer spends; it does not rank squads.

The issue I wanted to highlight was that Liverpool and Arsenal are both investing huge amounts in the transfer window and these clubs finished last season ahead of us. I feel that rather than close the gap, we are falling behind but the window is still open. If Donnarumma comes in for example, then that is going to change how I feel, likewise if the Isak deal falls through.

We have not yet see Arsenal, Liverpool and City's squads as they are not registered until after the window.
Are you just ignoring any context when you state that Liverpool & Arsenal finished ahead of us last season, therefore they were already stronger?

Can you show your workings for the minus 66m mate? Cheers

I'm quite happy with our business. All we need is top right back and we are sorted. Though we could definitely do with sorting the GK issue one way or another.

@cleavers

can you start a thread for all the miserablists please.

one single thread, call it what you like.
"the moaning thread" or summat.
instead of all these endless negative threads that last a day or two only to be quickly replaced by others.

and when some miserablist starts another miserablist thread just merge the **** into the moaning thread.

hahaha
it's hilarious the lengths they go to.

as my nan used to say,
it's like a wet weekend in fleetwood in here
