It's Quiet the £250m return

Love Bernie but thought he actually ruined our chance to get back into the game against Spurs.

I don't think he's much more than a midfield engine snapping about at CDM at this point.

Reijnders and Nico is a strong enough midfield base for me - Palinha and Bentancur must be two of the strongest most physical players in the league.
He looked like he had aged 10 years in a week since the wolves game where he played well. When Pep moved him to the right it was sad to see him performing at such a low level. Been an amazing player for us. Should only ever play in the middle now.

Not yet but what I mean is he won't be "makeshift" forever.

From what I've seen this summer there is no right back on the market that's all of:

1 - A definite upgrade
2 - Under 28
3 - Actually buyable

Much like most things Hugo has done this summer, I think he's got it right giving Nunes a chance to go from a makeshift right back into a genuine right back. The early stats actually are pretty promising. A reverse lahm-ing from CM to RB.
Well based on the first 2 matches I guess Hugo forgot to mention that to Pep...

Do you not think he was showing Rico a bit of love after the contract extension, and he wanted the fullback to invert?

Either way they're rotating across the season maybe 1 gets 30 starts maybe 1 gets 20.
Rico was pretty good against wolves, wasn’t he?

Maybe that’s why the side didn’t change

Yeah he was I thought. Didn't even think he was a huge problem against Spurs, if Stones doesn't slip / manages to play the offside does Rico come in for much criticism?

I'd rather Nunes as an overlapper (maybe helped if Sav is ahead of him not Bobb) and Rico as an inverter.

It's just not baffling if no RB we considered a true upgrade was available all summer.

No RB has been transferred that we'd actually want.
In all fairness that explanation holds no water. There is no set list of options. The inability to secure a proper RB is baffling and quite a few other things.

I don't know if you really believe we had no choice or if you're a happy clapper trying to gaslight some of us that we had no viable options.

"A happy clapper trying to gaslight" is at least funny if a bit odd.

It's only "baffling" if you ignore this:

The closest thing to a list of things you could potentially have bought is a list of things that were actually sold.

If Gusto, porro or livramento had moved you'd have a point. But they didnt. Dumfries, Aina and Munoz are totally the wrong age profile for the squad.

If youre genuinely confused we didnt get a right back name one we could have got under 27, that's available and is a genuine upgrade on Rico and Nunes who are probably 7/10 right backs, potentially better over time.

Or maybe Pep thinks Rico is good enough to be our first team RB which would signal an even greater worry than Rico actually playing there...

So Gala have bid more for Eddie and we’ve agreed a fee for Donna. They finally look like they are done.

I still think there will be more movement.

Looks like we’ve told Akanji and Gundo they aren’t in the plans, but they shouldn’t need to be replaced.

Anyone find it odd Spurs aren’t bidding for another winger? Simons covers the 10 they also needed and were open about signing.

Spurs after Semenyo.

Who said anything about being confused. I know damn well we've shit the bed on this one.
Question: Did you have any idea who Dean Huijsen was this time last year? Well Bournemouth did and got him from Juventus for 18.2 million euro. Not 60, 70, or 80 million pound. He's gone to Real Madrid for 60 million euro and is currently starting for Spain. Viana built his whole reputation on doing just this at Sporting. I have ZERO doubt he has the list you are asking for. I also think its Pep who is happy with his current RB options. If he really wanted a proper RB he'd get one. Ask yourself when was the last time we set up with 11 players each actually in their natural positions? I'll look forward to an answer...

Its irrelevant? What's a "natural position" where the youth team coach put them?

Ederson at left back?

Players develop, tactics change. How many players have moved about the pitch as their careers went on.

Maybe Hugo got the mythical list you've imagined and decided he preferred the potential in a young Rico Lewis and a position-changing Nunes?

If the answer is quite a few years ago, and it probably is, then it obviously doesn't matter. Seems to me almost all the full back options people come up with ignores the we don't have room in the NHG list question.
