Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

Totally in charge of the game until their coach changed things up and brought the subs on to give them more energy, then a brain fart by Nunes which totally changed the momentum. We then got hit on the break 3 v 1 when we were trying to win the game at all costs instead of keeping our defensive shape we'd had all game. Sometimes we should be happy with a point, sit in and maybe hit them on the break. Plenty of teams beat us last season with that tactic.

Need Foden, Cherki and Savinho back desparately.

We are lacking creativity.

Nunes at fault for the pen, but then we sub on Lewis to play his usual attacking inverted role and the back line becomes a mess on their 2nd goal.
Absolutely. I know the handball was a fuck up but, that aside, he didn’t look in any real trouble all afternoon.
You’ve conceded one goal, a penalty at that, and you take off 2 of your back 4. It’s muddled thinking at best and piss poor at worst.

Game of two halves. Total control first half. 2nd half their manager makes a load of positive changes early to change momentum. Us? Do nothing until it’s too late.

After the Spurs game, I was not sure if it was Spurs being too good or City making them look good. After Spurs got comfortably beaten by Bournemouth yesterday, I didn't have much hopes for today anyway. Trafford and Rodri were good, so that's a positive.

Sad to see but a team that literally would ‘fight till the end’ appears to have lost its desire, its confidence and its backbone. Whatever the solution is, Pep needs to discover it pretty darn quickly!

Pep and the team will drop a 5 game losing streak on us then he will be sacked. United and Arsenal will demolish this team. At least I won’t mind Kevin getting the last laugh on us.

Khaldoon, Soriano - where’s the fucking money lads ????

Either spend big on some players who’ll improve us or fuck off and give us our club back

Last season it was all because of injuries. This season is all because of the transfer window. Next season will be because of Brexit and migration.

The sooner people wake up and realise that we’re a poorly coached side the better. This current Pep is not the Pep of the past.

There was a time when our attack was free flowing, now we don’t attack. A time when Pep improved players, now players have to leave to reach their potential. A time when the only managers who could compete with Pep was Ancelotti and Klopp, now he’s getting schooled on a regular basis by Thomas Frank, the Brighton manager and Amorim.

If we don’t beat United or Arsenal then he needs to go.

Two games in a row without any effort at the end to push for a goal. Zero fight, zero desire. That's probably what annoys me the most.
Agreed. If we get beat having given it everything out on the pitch, I'll never complain. Unhappy? Of course I would be. But all I ask of the team is effort and fight. Nothing more.

Thank you for the best 10 years of football Pep but time to go.
We are finished as a top 4 team and nothing had changed in the last 12 months.
Squad planning is a shambles with the majority of the squad nowhere near title challenger level. Tactics are outdated, every manager knows how to beat us now and its only the rare days like at Wolves where we actually are half clinical that gets us the points.
To go into another season with no RB, no new CB and still no pace or energy in midfield knowing that every team now bypasses us with ease as they have pace, strength and desire and also the worst set of wingers in the PL after spending the money we have in Jan and the summer is shocking.
Ask yourself this, what team in tne PL would you be confident of our current squad of beating. Answer is none.
No player has improved under Pep over the last few years like they used to.
just accept the good times are finished. This team/squad wont even get top 4 this season. Wouldnt surprise me to finish as low as 8th as every game is the same, lack of passion, leaders, pace, desire, square pegs in round holes and very little goal threat.
Least we have a keeper who stops goals now though, small consolation

Maybe mate. But those 3 players you’ve named are all lightweight when it comes to the physical nature of this league. They might bring some more creativity for sure, but helping us to win that midfield battle and come out on top in 50/50s ?
