Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

The sad thing is absolutely nobody will be surprised we lost that game when they equalised. Nobody. We have gone from mentality monsters, who could win fourteen games in a row, to mentality pygmies who can't hold on for fourteen minutes.
We have sleep walked into where we are now the same way a lot of top teams before us have done. In history the lessons are always there if we pay attention but funnily enough history tells us that humans rarely do.
The time to strengthen was after we'd won the treble. Two world class signings, then the next season two more. Our main players were getting old and after ten years of superhuman effort were absolutely worn out. Instead we sat on hour hands. The next season muscle memory got us over the line to win the title again and get to the cup final but you could hear the warning bells ringing loudly. We sat on our hands, which then resulted in last season's shit show and a large panic buy of players in January that haven't really paid dividends yet.

This summer we have spent big on players that just don't look the top quality we need. We can hope they come good, it's early days yet and due to the failings I mentioned earlier it's a bloody big rebuild. Early signs aren't good though. We have one day of the window left and we have to, just have to, get a right back through the door, even if it's a cheap stop gap for now. I fear it's going to be a long painful season.

He does need to cut that out of his game. It was that needless challenge that gave them the free kick that the penalty was conceded from. His pace is a major plus and he'll no doubt be a great asset but he does need to think a bit more rather than diving in for balls that he has no hope of winning.
We can't have it both ways... we need more aggression and that means fouls and yellows.

Khusa was very good today, Dias was fucking awful when he came on. He barely registers a presence on the pitch these days.

Sad to see...

Absolutely shameful performance.
Decent first half and then we crumble and hide again.
We’ll lose the derby.
Our work rate and work ethic is fucking appalling.
Forget tactics we are out worked by every team we play.
We are currently a top 5 team at best.
Fuming!
It’s gonna be a long season.
Unlike you to be so negative...now I am worried

It's a pattern carried on from last season. Areas of weakness not addressed. Signing attackers when we need defenders. Pep is stubborn as fuck. Suicide playing a high line with slow defence against fast attackers. He won't learn though. He'll carry on doing it like last season. We'll get top four but forget the league.
Filth & Arsenal next. If he loses the Derby he'll be booed off & rightfully so against a shite Utd team. Then Arsenal, that will be another thrashing like last season. Frustrating how we keep leaving acres of space behind us when teams that play us don't. He needs to change it or they'll be more shite like today.

We’re doing exactly what every great team who declines does.

Accepting inconsistent players as good enough.

Haaland, stones, Rodri and Bernardo the only ones fine.

Too many journeymen, too many projects.

Doku and Bobb are not good enough. Jury out on Marmoush who vanishes.

We have nobody who can play right back. Every single team knows that.

We’ve a team of cowards waiting on someone else to make them look good. I hate the term “get stuck in” but this is a bunch of passengers with no hunger.
Harsh

Pep is the greatest manager we have ever had . So i am annoyed but i am going to keep faith . I still think we need a RB and should never let grealish go or KDB

Did you start a Save Our Pep thread over at the cafe?
