Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

The decision to extend Dias, keep Stones and Ake and loan out promising, able bodied young centre halves in Bah and Reis is some of the worst decision making we’ve made in many years
Reis is a mystery. I'd never heard of him before we bought him in January, but every video I watched, including a couple from ex-coaches of his, praised him for his 'mature head on young shoulders' and having a cool head in a crisis. Also for his reading of the game.

Sounded perfect.

The transfer strategy does make you wonder how many times we scout these guys before taking the plunge.

Just read some utter tosh they posted straight after the match on their 93.20 feed...apparently it's all down to lack of fitness but "sprinkles of very good" apparently. Turning into a bunch of happy clappers who are very dismissive of anybody who dares to think otherwise. They desperately need some folk on there with different views to the main man.
Strange how some don't think you're a fan if you criticise and question.

I get that - but why oh why doesn't he bring Haaland into play - use him as a target man, defenders would hate that - players running off him may get some luck too. Instead it's like - absolutely do not give Haaland anything unless it's 100% chance.
Mate I don’t think he can or know how to. Yes he was n the treble but how many cups has he fucked for us. I might be on my own here but glad when he’s gone. Held us back for years

Looks like Donnarumma is incoming. Good. We need some hard bastard in the dressing room. Elite keeper, elite DM and elite Striker. Won’t need much more. Our side is now very young too.

A shit show. The idea their comeback was a surprise is for the birds - it was quiet clear after 60mins we were struggling

Nunes, is a joke of a player. A total time waster. Might as well have a youth team player at right back - time for him to play for someone else

If we play our current system with Donnarumma it will be an absolute shitshow.

Wasnt he injured - he was certainly receiving treatment before hand..think Stones was originally going to come off
Yes I stand corrected. I didn't want him to come off and didn't like Dias replacing him for the one obvious reason but Pep said we conceded the 2nd goal because of fast players and Khusanaov could handle their pace but he had to come off because of muscular problems ( just a knock but not injured) .

Firstly, we need 11 players on the pitch who give 110% to play the Pep way, it’s a successful ethos.
We don’t have those players, or is it too many of them who don’t possess the nouse to implement the strategy?!
I watched individual players closely today, Nunes, Marmoush, Haaland, Stones, Reijnders, Silva, Bobb., they all made poor decision on and off the ball, lost possession, poor passes, the handball.
We made two decisive drives into their box all day.
Then there was no pace, drive, fight, ideas, runs.
The subs were ineffective, Doku, wtaf.
We were worse after the subs.
We are weaker physically and mentally, too static and defensively poor with a disappearing midfield.
So all in all, it’s not working individually or as a team.
Worst effective squad in three years and we’re supposed to be rebuilding.
God knows what’s going on with Foden, possible mental health stuff, Grealish leaving, players who should perform in an offensive roll just vanish, create nowt and pull faces.
In my 55 years of watching football, I’ve seen when coaching staff are struggling to get it working as they want, players body language all at sea, but I’m not convinced this is where we are at.
The year after the treble, I resigned myself to the fact we were physically and mentally broken with all the recent seasons epic efforts, then no rest in between seasons since, but we still aren’t turning the corner.
So, where have City gone, it’s not crept up, it’s steadily got worse.
Is it fatigue still, in its various forms, is Pep struggling with the dressing room and players, who aren’t responding, taking it all in and doing it on the pitch.
The Wolves win got my attention, then we get Spursed and now today.
It’s going to be a frustrating season and, on the last two showings, coupled with last seasons showing, I again think we’ll be dissapointing.
If by the new year, we are not turning it around, they’ll be changes, not the one we all want, but the club owners won’t like us falling off the pace, which is top 4 and a cup win.
