1 | James Trafford - 2025/26

I’m judging the club more than him. He looks a decent shot-stopper and that will come in handy, because he will be facing a lot of shots in this current City side. However, he wouldn’t be number 1 at any other top side. He shouldn’t be number 1 here (yet). Again, not his fault but it does show the current state of the club.
Fair enough. Chances are he wasn’t going to instantly be starting for us anyway. He clearly does have the potential to our regular keeper though

If we show some patience and properly develop him, he could be our keeper for the next ten years. In my opinion

I think most, me included, were on board with that scenario. Eddie number 1 this season, Trafford getting the cup games and see how it goes. Hes on a hiding to nothing trying to find his feet in this current City side.

I agree, especially with the midfield and defence falling apart with any sign of pressure.

I liked what I saw today though and thought he was excellent. This one was genuinely world class

Good performance. I also saw him make the same pass that cost us a goal last week so he is learning as are the players.

Some good saves and decent passing.

It was. Pity the shit for brains defence allowed us to concede less than a minute later!

Not a single comment about his failure to save the well taken penalty? Stick ederson in net and there's 6 pages of comments on him not saving it.

maybe all those that said last week 'he's shit' could come on and say 'he's not shit. he's actually a very good shot stopper'. I wont hold my breath.

I’m here!!
I don’t think he’s up to being a league winning keeper - but seen as though the rest of the team isn’t then we might as well run with him.

We have project midfielder players, project wingers and project defenders so why not a project keeper??

We ain’t going to win anything playing like we are so might as well blood them now and get games under their belt

Couple of smart saves but nowhere near the standard we need to play out from the back. We just can't consistently get up the pitch with him in net, if pep doesnt entirely rip up the plan we are fucked. And donnarumma makes us even worse in that regard.

Its clear as day he can't do it so now it is down to pep to stop asking him to do something he can't do and find a way of making it work with what we have.
I thought he did fine playing out from the back today. Not as confident as Ederson is but then who else is? After last week he did really well and showed real character. To do that behind a back 4 who have never played together does him real credit. I think he is an excellent buy and will prove that over the next decade.

Everyone's a project except Rodri and Haaland!

Doku - hope he gets better
Savinho - hope he gets better
Bobb - hope he gets better
Reijnders - hope he gets better
Cherki - hope he gets better
Foden - hope he gets better
Ait-Nouri - hope he gets better
Nunes - hope he gets better
Rico - hope he gets better

I'm not making this up.. and today even Erling's scoring should have been better..

It's not neccesarily him and his own performance, Its what we lose not having Ederson. The team was noticeably more reluctant to give him the ball and it often ends with a big boot up to an isolated Haaland if we are lucky but more often nobody, and then a turnover of possession.

we can't entice a press on to us and use Ederson as the spare man to easily get out of it anymore, we arent anywhere near as efficient at getting out and up the pitch. Its not something im blaming Trafford for, just the reality of losing Ederson, nobody will be able to replicate Ederson so Pep asking anybody to try is dooming them to failure. There has to be a drastic change but it doesnt seem to be on the cards and so whoever our keeper is, Is going to be in for a rough time. If it ends up being Donnarumma, I think it will be even worse than Trafford.

Around 75% of penalties are scored, so him saving that one on its own was unlikely. Over time, he should save some. Ederson's had time, and saved fuck all.

Not that we should be 'expecting' penalty saves anyway really. I'm happy enough seeing the saves he did make today - he did everything that could realistically be asked of him. Including the passing.
