Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

I was also at the game. We were bullied. Pure and simple. When Brighton made those changes we couldn’t live with them. They just wanted it more.

I can show you a screenshot of my ticket if it gives me permission to post negative stuff?

Get over yourself.
No problem with constructive criticism. Opinion is free. But some of the posts on this thread are pure poison. Some people wallow in misery.

Poor result. "We're shit, and we're sick of it..." Wow it's like the 'good old days', early-season crises, "Swales out, sack the board" and the rest of it... Well if this season is like the last, and we all hoped it wouldn't be, it will certainly start to sort the 'wheat from the chaff'. All those spoilt fans garnered over the past few years of success will likely go support someone else, thank heavens, leaving the remainder to enjoy good old City, 'cups-for-cock-ups' and all!

On a more trivial note, today was poor, Spuds at home was also poor, we're no better then West Ham for points and the Rags - yes that lot - are above us in the table for the derby... when did that last occur??

I do wonder if it actually is time for a change at the top. My concern with the whole 'project' since 2008 has been that there has never been any sort of obvious plan for City 'post-Pep'? That was not an issue 8, 6 or 4-years ago, but it is now. And for those who just want to look at everything through blue-tinted specs, yes we have had extraordinary success and much of that is down to Pep. Brilliant. A legend. But all things end. It's time and nature's way. Neither wait for any man (or woman...). A couple of bad results signify nothing. But over 12-months now we have been gradually sinking down the table. Not by much. But there is not much between top spot and 5th in real percentage terns and probably less between 5th and 10th. And we're being found out, it would seem week-by-week.

That is a ridiculous comment and I'm sure Pep would also agree with my opinion.

A manager is only as good as his recent success rate. Once that goes, he's the same as any other bloke not pulling his weight at work. Pep understands this and has said on many occasions that he is rated on his current performance, not history.

Football managers KNOW the line they walk is a thin one. Get on the wrong side and, no matter how good you have been, the pressure will begin to grow.

Your definition of recent is probably different to mine. I think where we fundamentally disagree here is that I don't think we're close to the stage where we suggest that he's done.

I don't have much of a problem with the personnel going into the season but as a collective I think we completely shit the bed when things start going against us.

Not sure what Pep saw at the club world cup that gave him the feeling this team is willing to compete again because I do not see that fire coming from anyone.

Madrid bring in quality year in year out. They know what it takes. I feel the board have completed their aim. We seem to be now relying on potential of players..mamoush, doku and savio whereas in the past we had proven premier league players grealish, sterling and Mahrez , the protocol has changed somewhere for the worst the ‘potentials’ are not and never will be good enough. Do we want to stay at the top or just ‘competitive’ that’s my worry.
Quality is the word. Jury's out on the new signings but the players are nowhere near what we have had. Think about David, Sergio, Tevez, Ya Ya, Vinnie, Zaba, Sterling, Mahrez ,Sane and Kev to name a few. We really need to sign high quality players in key positions to get back to the top. Starting with a full back and quality winger.

United are where they are now because they were too sentimental towards who exactly? Imo it's more a sign of what we could become if we got rid of pep. Trying to replace him when it's just not possible. End up with manager after manager, a complete loss of identity and style.

Ferguson? The ideology that one way works and that's it "the United way"

We need to change, simple as that

I don’t think we played amazingly well for the first hour but we were the better side and deserved the lead. The penalty was a stupid mistake from a guy who shouldn’t be playing RB (or anywhere probably).

My biggest concern is period after that and the reaction to the equaliser, much like last year it’s sheer panic and a complete loss of composure. For me the biggest issue we have, is a mentality problem rather than an ability issue.

I’ve said elsewhere that we need a fighter like Andy Morrison. He only played about 30 games for us iirc, but what a difference he made.
His type seems out of fashion at the mo.

will be interesting what pep does with RB spot. he didnt start Nunes vs Wolves and Spurs but now got him starting and straightaway he gives away a pen because his hands are up in the air vs a cross he should have expected to be made.
and last derby at Etihad where Nunes did his brainfuck error of course which then turned a 1-0 lead into a loss. same as today game.

It's a strange argument, imo, as in his last season he won the league at a canter and was signing guys like van persie. It's since his departure that they've went to rat shit.
