52 | Oscar Bobb - 2025/26

Well Pep has brought untold success to the club.
It is upto the players to develop, including Doku whom I am a fan of.
Pep is not beyond criticism, of course, but we are too early in the season to make final judgements.
Its not only this season. Last season was also pretty bad.

Whilst he didn't have the best of games, we have far bigger issues to worry about.

Him consistently starting is an issue and hopefully Foden being back will help.

Bobb more then deserves his place in the squad, but Foden, Cherki and Savio being out means he is playing more then he should be at this point.

He’s not the problem but the injuries are.

Not great today, but far from our biggest problem at the moment. Still young and recovering from a major injury. Can be used more sparingly once everyone is fit.

The worrying concern is though mate, is that despite his low minutes in his senior career and having a season out due to a broken leg, he is still our best winger at the moment. Both Doku and Savio don't come anywhere near him.

And that's an indictment on the quality decrease we have witnessed over the last few years.

Not sure about that tbh mate. Don’t think there’s much between Bobb, Doku or Savinho at the moment. Got to consider their ages though - 22, 23, and 21 respectively. There’s huge potential there. Could maybe just do with one more senior wide man in the squad to allow them to develop.

Where have Bob. And Doku proven they are talented?
Doku contributed greatly to City's last league title. Won the penalty with a rare piece of individual skill against Porro when City was on the ropes. Assisted Foden for the goal that sealed the title in the last round. He was the youngest player in history to contribute four goals in a single Premier league match, City's best player against Madrid in the CL, Chelsea and Man United in the FA cup semis and finals respectively. He's Alexander Arnold's biggest nightmare. Created an insane amount of chances over the last two years. People seriously have short memories.

As for Bobb, he admittedly proved less but in his defense hes younger and also suffered a big injury crisis. But before it and after if you are unable to see how good he is technically and how smart he is in his play, his maturity, vision, then you really need to get your eyes checked. He's been running the show for his national team from such a young age. You probably don't remember this performance in the U21 derby too a couple years ago:

Clearly on another level from everyone else. Thats talent.

Talent is not the issue with Doku and Bobb. Probably not with Savinho either, although I do believe he's just physically too weak AND too poor of a shooter AND not with a great intelligence so thats a bit too many flaws. But Doku and Bobb are as good as it gets for wingers at this age. You should see Vinicius for Madrid, the near miss BDO guy. He's been terrible for a year, just terrible terrible. These guys need patience and someone to unleash their confidence and creativity. Unfortunately, I think Pep is only stifling it.

don’t know which Doku you’ve been watching. An insane amount of chances? Best player against Madrid? He did well as sub against Chelsea I’ll give you that. Produces fuck all and still isn’t a starter so he ain’t that great is he? Bobb scored against Newcastle. Not interested in what he did at youth level.

He was very poor yesterday. The kid has started a handful of games and put in some good performances and some not so good. Anyone getting on his back are out of order. Nobody covered themselves in glory yesterday. He will be a quality squad player for years to come

I can say the same thing about you, but it wouldn't matter because you have the memory of a goldfish. Yes Doku was City's best player that match, changed the match (Pep said so too), literally forced Carvajal to the bench that match, and KDB's goal came from a deflection from his action. Of his actions so many goalscoring chances and goals happened over the last two years, or hockey assists, or simply general disruptions to the structure of defenses which leads to something. But for people like you the further the memory spans back is 2-3 games at most, and even for that, you just remember basic stats like G+A.

btw, "not interested in that" is a sign of lack of curiosity and critical thinking and therefore an indicator of low IQ. But thats already clear seeing that you think the only thing that matters about Bobb is that he scored against Newcastle and not what kind of a player he actually is from watching him play.

Genuine question mate do you actually attend city games? I’m just curious as a season ticket holder who attends away games when possible I don't see the contributions you’re describing. If your description were a why isn’t he starting every week and why is there so much discussion about his supposed merits? I’m not interested in youth football as it bears no real resemblance as is proven time and again to the premier league.

If you think they don't train in front of Pep everyday and just get picked for some random reason, then fair enough. If the management see enough every day to pick them, then they're talented. Whether that's ever enough is another question.

Talented kid and no doubt Pep and the club rates him highly. Fleets in and out of games like most players at his age does. I just disagree with affording him the full 90mins when we are chasing a goal and hoping he does something miraculous.

Not great yesterday but he does look a talent - I

No other options at the moment really, otherwise he'd be in and out of the team

Not about talent never questioned talent there’s talent and then there’s proven to be good enough. Bonn’s lacked the opportunity but as yet is unproven to be good enough and Doku has proven he’s not good enough.

Im not sure what many are watching, i thought he qas fantastic. Sure he lost the ball a few times. That's what i want. I want someone trying to make things happen. He created the first goal with his aggressive play, and created 2 to 3 more half chances.

That's what i want. Fuck the keep possession nonsense. Once we are in the final third of the field, i want those guys attacking the opposition.

Marmoush does this too, but loses the ball even more. But i am totally okay with this. Ee need more urgency once we cross our half line. And he is very good at knowing when to go.

6.5/10 performance for me. But the good kind of 6.5.
