Can someone explain to me why we want Donnaruma when Pep has said he will not change his style of play. Donnaruma is not known for his ability to play out from the back. Why would Eddie want to leave us for a lesser league? Why have we not bought a fast, tall, strong fullback? I would love Pep to tell us why. I am sure there is a plan, I just can't see it. Anyone?

Trafford has to start this game

Donarumma does not deserve to walk straight into this team - he needs to earn it...Trafford is no.1 and that should not change.

I think he starts by way of us having no right back but he's another player in the squad who isn't good enough technically.

He at least has some physicality to bail us out which is more than can be said of others.
We will see who is right over the coming years!

Even if Pep wanted to start Donnaruma, I don't think there's time to him to prepare for it? He's not coming to Manchester until after the international break. It will take a while for Donnaruma to settle in imo.

3 appearances in which 2 were defeats, we need experience
Does Donarumma change any of those results or save any of those goals - no

We give away very high value chances cause of the way we set up....that means that its very difficutl for a keeper to stop those chances...Trafford is an excellent shot stopper as well as being very good at penalties and decent with his feet.

Now Donarumma maybe better than trafford on the shot stopping but the high value chances means he still has little chance fo saving them

IF we had got a proper right back in (or 2) AND a centre half then I would look at this slightly differently but our porous defence and our defenders (baring Stones) poor ability to deal with the ball at their feet means that this is going to create issues.

It is a little harsh on Trafford after his performance vs Brighton but Donnarumma has got to start. The issue is whether the team is going to be up for this.

He played exceptionally well at Brighton, he will be really pissed off should he not keep his place in the next match, and it would be difficult not to see his point of view,

I reckon Trafford starts v rags and Donnarumma starts v Napoli once he’s had a few days training with the squad.

It won’t happen, obviously, but I wouldn’t be averse to a formation change at this stage, just to try and freshen things up a bit. It’s Football Manager pie in the sky, but I’d like to see a 3412 formation:

Donnarumma

Khusanov
Stones
Gvardiol

Nunes
Rodri
Rjeinders
Ait-Nouri

Foden

Marmoush
Haaland

It’d allow Foden and Marmoush to play in their best positions, and push Nunes and Ait-Nouri further up so they were less of a liability defensively. An additional centre-half might leave us less vulnerable to the counter too.

It's probably a good game for us, as the crowd will be fired up & may give our players back their mojo ... but only if Haaland takes more of his chances because we aren't keeping a clean sheet !

Maybe a good game to have, because if the players can't lift themselves for a home derby then we really are in trouble.
They haven’t lifted themselves for a derby for quite some time
And I hold the manager responsible for some of that, ever since he tossed away that league cup game by playing kids.
Instead of realising what this game means to us, he ends up endlessly rimming the cunts via the media
That second cup final was a disgrace, as was the last time at our place
My biggest criticism of Pep

It’s almost as if we have a transfer forum to discuss such matters…
