It's Quiet the £250m return

Dumfries and Munoz take a year to settle, probably get 5 year deals and are immediately the next akanji/kovacic/gundogan everyone is moaning won't leave.

Plus they both play completely different roles in back 5s. They're really not much more of a guarantee than Nunes or Rico in the heavily exposed tactics we actually play.
City seems to be the only club where the argument for every player is that they need „ a year to settle „
Every team in the world would go for a right back if they were us. Yet we don’t for whatever reasons once again. Got a LB after years and now the same is happening on the right. Obviously you can’t change every position within a year - but still the RB position is the clear weakness of this squad. Sometimes I feel like we do that on purpose. Just this time we ain’t the strongest team.

Yaya had already won the CL when he joined City and Aguero had just won the Europa League
Gundogan had been Man of the Match for Dortmund at the Etihad and then reached the CL Final at Wembley
David Silva was a World and European Champion.
De Bruyne was an enigmatic talent, but we knew all about him
Dzeko had won the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg and scored at Old Trafford
Bernardo Silva had been part of that fantastic Monaco team (as had Mendy)
Boateng was the forgotten man, but he'd been brilliant at the 2010 World Cup.
There were others: some bargains (Kompany and Zabaleta, some failures (Bony) and others who split opinion (Nasri)

Nowadays we seem to be aiming in another direction, but do those type of stellar players actually exist anymore.
Mbappe was never going to come to City but otherwise I just don't see many world class players available

Possibly Isak, but christ that's a hell of a lot of money and they were just as confident about Nunez.

We've missed out on Wirtz and Frimpong, but Leverkusen only reached the Last 16 of the CL and were a distant second to Bayern in the CL

Similarly we've bought a Left Back from Wolves and Liverpool have bought one from Bournemouth

The jury might be out on Marmoush, but is Gyokeres really elite level?

Sesko?
Really?

Didn’t stop us finally signing a left back who played in a back 5 for the mighty Wolves

Come off it, we aren't giving them five years deals and they aren't saying no to three years deals.

Whichever way cut it, we went into this window needing a right back and finished it needing a right back.

It's already cost us multiple points this year and will continue to do so.

As I said, it's a shambles.

So now we're into signing players that aren't available to contracts to players don't sign.

And we're mad Viana didn't.

Mate look at the panic on here the world's worst agent can get a 5 year deal for our sacred right back solution.

How many players moving to top clubs at 29 sign team-friendly 3 year deals?
They sign or they dont get the deal...they move or they dont.

We need to be ruthless - we need to act as a big club. We should be taking players off our rivals (whether that is Prem rivals or european rival)

the club has become horribly complacent.

So, he still played in a back 5 and can’t defend. Walker and Dinho were 28. We needed a right back desperately and age shouldn’t have come into it. We’ve spent fortunes without improving the starting 11

I feel like people aren't really getting that to get a RB to improve your starting XI there actually has to be one available.

We clearly thought that might be Livramento and that didn't get done.

Absolute shambles of a window.

Hamstrung by having to get rid of the old guard and some of the dross only signed in Jan.

Not one of the major issues addressed, more bang average players brought in, no real plan and a complete lack of conviction.

The next few windows will be taken up with having to get rid of more of the mistakes we have made in the last two years.

Whoever oversees our recruitment should be sacked.

Stop talking about what Rodri said ffs, if he said the sky was blue id check. PR puff pieces by every player and manager ever, couldn't care less.

We have no space for a second recognised left back, but you know that, so why are you repeating it.

He isn't a number 10 at this level, so the sooner he realises that the better.
So you dont believe the best player in world and someone who is a lot more qualified than anyone on here and beyond within the fan base to make an assessment..just cause it fucks your argument up. And how exactlyi s it a puff piece when he is saying something quite derogatory about the level of our squad?

We needed to be ruthless in letting players go. Pep needs a bigger squad - the whole of football is saying this that with the ever increasing demands on players. Other clubs manage to seel players at ridiculous prives to the Arab league yet we cant tap into that market? How much did Nunes get to go there?

I agree Nico OReilly aint a 10 at this level (not at present certainly) - but he aint a left back at this level either....

The LB we got is already being torn to shreds i doubt whichever stop gap RB we got would do any better.

Ok so simply:

You're saying Dumfries comes in a major transfer on a deal that doesn't even last longer than his current Inter one?
His current deal runs to 2028, at which point he'd be 32.

If he was desperate for a four year deal we could give him that as he'd probably still be good at 32, if on the way down a little.

You seem to have created a bizarre narrative where it's impossible for us to sign a good right back, irrespective of reality.

What do you mean by available exactly. Any player is available at a price.....Madrid come in with 300m for Haaland - you think the top brass dont at least consider it? You bet they fucking would.

Ar you telling me that there is only one right back in world football that could meet our requirements - that suggests are requirements need to change if so

Name one who moved who you wanted mate its that simple.

Its logic - we wanted livra didnt get him, aren't panic buying. We used to hate the panic buys.
